The federal government, through the DOE, has no place or Consitutional authority to be selecting and subsidizing energy technology. Close the DOE and its bureaucracy.

This is a basic function/program for any company - asset management. To say the the government does not have an effective asset identification system speaks to how irresponsible the Federal government is with our money.

3d barcoding is a known & proven technology that has been deployed throughout inductry. The Federal government is not the best user to have experiment with a relatively new (and expensive) technology. Rather, the gov't should deploy a proven technology that requires little or no technical development. This will enable a robust and reliable system to be deployed in the most efficient manner possible.
