@owen,

Sorry my friend. that would be a restriction on our 1st Amendment rights.

All an autocratic government would need to do is declare that anyone petitioning government is a lobbyist, and require us to publicly disclose our support and opposition to the policies advanced by our elected officials.

I disagree with this. By creating a 'protocol' for petitioning our government, we thereby restrict our 1st Amendment right to the "... right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

We don't need more rules restricting our 1st Amendment rights!

I fully agree with this proposal, but it is not the place of the Executive branch to tell the Legislative branch how to run their business.

It is however our right under the 1st Amendment to "...right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

So, we should demand our House and Senate members to open up the research paid for by the people.

Have you heard of the 10th Amendment. It's not the federal governments place to tell the states or the people how to run their business:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
