Nursing homes can cost $80,000 a year. Live in care givers cost arround $30,000 plus room and board. Yet, people in places like the UAE and Hong Kong have live in domestic help that costs between $2000 and $5000 a year plus R&B. This is because their immigration laws are better than those in the US and they hire workers from the Philippines or Indonesia who are trilled to get those salaries.

US immigration laws are backward compared to countries like Hong Kong, the UAE, or Saudi Arabia. People in Hong Kong hire Philippine help for about $400 a month plus room and board. They work 6 days a week, up to 18 hours a day and they do not pay SSA taxes or pensions. Philippine workers are anxious to grab these jobs because that is more that what a nurse would earn in the Philippines. Philippine domestic help earn about 4 times what they could earn in the Philippines. Places like the UAE are popular but not as much as Hong Kong. In the UAE, Philippine domestic help earn about $180 a month plus room and board. They also work longer hours than in Hong Kong. If the US has similar laws, it would be easy to hire Philippine domestic help for about $5000 a year. This way, senior citizens could continue living in their homes for a fraction of the cost of what is required now.

Too bad the US does not have domestic help laws like Hong Kong or the middle east. Not only do the Philippine employees work for less, but they are more honest because the job is more valuable to them. Think of it. If a Philippine domestic help worker looses their job, they are sent back home and have no chance of getter a good paying job (by Philippine standards) again. They rely on these incomes to support parents of families back home. Too bad the US is not as advanced.

Some employers want a large percentage of part time employees because they do not have to pay benefits. As a result, many people can only find part time work because employers want to avoid the extra expense of benefits. If you force employers to pay benefits even to part time employees, the percentage of full time employees would grow and lift would be better for these people.

Some countries have a very objective way to decide how much money is given to a victom. So much based on your age, pay, injury, etc. This can greatly reduce medical expenses because doctors do not have to recommend unnecessary tests.

We also need a law prohibitting lawyers and law groups from giving money to politicians and political groups. How can you get fair laws when the lawyers are in bed with the politicians.

When the Jewish people returned to Palistine in 1948, they forced Arabs out of their homes and stoll their homes and land. The Arabs were never compensated. Today, some Jewish people continue to take over Arab land without compensating them and treat them like second class citizens. There is a lot of racism in Israel. I do not suggest helping the Palistinians. But I do not want to support a racist government either.

There is a shortage of engineers and nurses in the US because US citizens major in these fields in college. Companies and hospitals have trouble finding people for these area. Yes, we need to hire people from other countries to fill these positions.

Also, it is terribly expensive to care for an elderly person in the US. This is a growing problem as the Baby Boomers reach old age. A simple solution is to make it easier for seniors to hire home care workers from countries like the Philippines to take care of them. Philippine domestic help workers earn about $180 per month plus room and board when they work in the UAE. They work 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week for this pay and are glad to get it. Philippine domestic workers earn about $300-$400 a month in Hong Kong (plus R&B). They work 12* hours a day for 6 days per weeek. They are happy to have these jobs because of the poor pay in the Philippines. (A nurse in the Philippines earns $300-$400 a month without R&B). If the US adopts the same policy as Hong Kong, then this could greatly help the senior citizens in the US and GREATLY reduce Medicaid costs !!!!!! (I know this because I've known some Philippine overseas workers.)

One key to make this work is to offer work visa for selected occupations for which there is shortage of college graduates or for selected occupations like domestic help for seniors.
