Currently the main browser that all government agencies are using is Internet Explore 6. This browser has been around for close to decade and has been obsolete for many years. Use of this browser prevents government from providing most optimal and latest web technology in information sharing. Currently there are hundreds of technologies that can not be implemented in IE6. Web is changing every minute and constricting this kind of growth can damage the government and its resources in information sharing and gathering. Our government is using a browser that does not support most of the web standards that exist. With release of Internet Explore 8 there is no excuse in avoiding a long needed switch to more modern browsers like Internet Explore 7, Internet Explore 8 and Fire Fox 3.

Upgrading a browser would not cost any money since its a simple update/install via a mass control software used by IT Departments. Plus government is currently on Windows XP, which is a good thing in comparison to Vista.
