We'd like to welcome the policy discussion process to the Internet, but it's naïve to assume that this idea is well served by an undermoderated, underprogrammed voting site. OGD needs an open-source, meritocratic algorithm for ranking, and a clear, non-partisan netiquette.

Lets improve it!

Hi jackmcg. This is a good, clear policy suggestion.

Do you have any sources showing that government buildings (local, state, or federal) make up a sizable portion of the national electric bill?

Do I get my own office?

Sobi, please do not resort to name-calling. I would not do that to you.

Also, please note that I am just another contributor like you are. I am in no way affiliated with the moderators.

I will not flag something for removal because I disagree with it. That is what downvoting is for. I will flag it if it violates the Moderation Policy:
http://www.napawash.org/moderationpolicy.html

Racist slurs, name-calling, threats, & duplicate posts are all subject to removal according to that policy. You are free to flag any post that you choose if it is not in accordance. If you do so errantly out of spite, however, that would be vandalism. I do not think you, I, or any of the adults on here would like to be vandals. If I have been mistaken in flagging a post as duplicate or spam, I apologize.

Also, please note that calling for an increased importance in netiquette will better serve group cohesion and dispute resolution.

Kind regards.

I don't recall idiocy being an impeachable offense. Please cite otherwise.

We need the moderators of the website to step in with some clear netiquette and dispute resolutino mechanisms.

This forum has a stated policy against submitting duplicate ideas. There should not be more than one submission regarding UFOs, birth certificate, etc. Perhaps that is why you see them getting being flagged for removal.

I believe this is similar to taxes, which already exist. Perhaps you should rephrase with a policy suggestion related to income tax reform.

As an aside, I was able to vote on my own submission. Shouldn't that vote be implied?

I believe that inheritance is already taxed. You may want to resubmit with a rephrasing along the lines "Raise inheritance taxes." It would help to study the specifics of inheritance taxes in depth so you can make an insightful recommendation.

Title should reflect content.

Please advocate for one clear policy suggestion per post.

Please advocate for only one (clear) policy change per post.

There is no clear policy suggestion in this post. Flagged for removal (Inappropriate/Duplication).

Title is deceptive. Should read something like "Eliminate all federal taxes except for flat 25% income tax". There are lots of ways to simplify the tax code (make it easier on Americans), and the title should reflect that.

There is no clear policy suggestion in this idea.

Perhaps you should rephrase it as "Reinstate funding for NASA's High Resolution Microwave Survey program. (http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/extraterrestrial_worldbook.html)

Flagged for removal (duplication).

At least, they could make sure that there is true competition in the telecom arena! Look at the recent scandal over the price of text messaging.

While I can't agree that property value should be fixed to potential crop output, it would be wise for the administration to place more emphasis on localized (decentralized) food production. This is one of the underdiscussed areas of national security. Perhaps you could post another idea along those lines?

While the sentiment is sincere, there is not a clear policy goal in this post. Also, caps lock is not cruise control for cool.
jordan.applewhite 9 months ago
"Scum suckers" is not an appropriate term for an adult to use in civil discourse of policy.

Perhaps the voting algorithms of several other forums and link aggregator communities could be studied. It's fairly complicated to harness the mob intelligence. You can't just use a simple upvote/downvote count. Any statisticians in the house?

This is a great idea. The same technologies that make government websites mobile-ready will better prepare those sites to offer data in serialized formats. Serialized formats are important because they make it easy for third parties to perform computational analysis of the data.

The original poster is not making any policy suggestions. I recommend that this idea be deleted.

Instead of posting the whole story in the original post, could we link to the story? It would make it far more readable that way.
jordan.applewhite 9 months ago
Just wanted to clarify...I meant that an illegal immigration enforcement law could punish businesses that hire ILLEGAL immigrants, not Mexicans. My bad.
jordan.applewhite 9 months ago
If you really want to reform immigration laws, perhaps you shouldn't suggest that the federal government start rounding up Mexican people. That is racist and unsophisticated.

Instead, why don't you suggest a policy that punishes businesses that employ them?
