I totally agree that a major reform of our healthcare system is badly needed. I am not sure where the biggest part of the problem lies - the drug companies needing to charge so much to recover development costs, the insurance companies needing the big profits, or, the doctors needing to protect their incomes and liability concerns. I totally agree that a major reform of our healthcare system is badly needed. I am not sure where the biggest part of the problem lies - the drug companies needing to charge so much to recover development costs, the insurance companies needing the big profits, or, the doctors needing to protect their incomes and liability concerns.
I believe the chance for a meaningful reform is very low until such time as our government employees (including all elected officials) are on the same commercial plans and/or medicare as the rest of us. If only they could personally experience the run-arounds, frustrations and out of pocket expenses that we face on a daily basis; then, and only then will we have a chance for true reform. Until that time the various lobbying groups will have way too much influence.
