Erie. Has anyone read George Orwell's 1984? This is a move right out of that novel. It reeks of propaganda.

A department of Peace is redundant. America maintained an isolationist posture for decades with no such department, indeed, with only a fraction of the government we have today.

Who wants war anyway? There are definitely some things worth fighting for, as Americans have done for centuries, but noone wants war for war's sake. Some tyrants do not understand anything but the bayonet or the missile.

A department of peace would not have prevented WWI or II. It just adds another wasteful batch of bureaucracy to an already burgeoning federal government.

In Ohio at least, it has been the coldest year of late, with highs still unseasonably cold on some days.

Why is it that scientists, politicians accept that radical climate change has occurred NATURALLY in the past but not now?

The world's climate is not static, it fluctuates with every revolution around the sun.

Global warming is all about gaining power through fear mongering. The panic level speaking from the administration is so alarmist on the matter it makes the actor-scientist from "The day after tomorrow" look calm and level headed.

Global warming treaties surrender US freedom and but international bureaucrats over the private sector. Cap-and-trade crushes private incentive and will greatly increase the cost of living.

China restricts children because it is totalitarian.

Oh, and one volcanic eruption puts out more greenhouse gas than mankind has since the beginning of time.

If the printing presses don't stop churning out brand new Federal Reserve Notes by the trillions, we will have a Wiemar republic scenario, where even the poorest will make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, but the buying power will be equivalent to Mugabe's play money.

Another words, if we don't stop the deficit spending, that will become the minimum wage, though it will not nearly begin to keep up with the inflation rate.

ricardomigrant, it was Hillary who once said "dissent is patriotic" If by work together, you mean acquiesce to every demand and desire the liberals have, to roll over and accept and embrace ideologies destructive and alien to America then I have no intention to put up and shut up. The vaunted "mandate for change" entails only 53% of the country (including bogus ACORN votes). That means at least 47% of the country (plus a growing number of those who were caught up in the feeling and moment of making history).

He is getting ready to tax health-benefits (which his campaign eviscerated McCain for allegedly wanting to do), he has spent trillions of dollars we do not have, and we are well on the way to multi-generational bankruptcy.

We will stand up, we will dissent and we will oppose with the ballot, with the internet, with the speech and every other legit means of discourse in this still great country.

The concept of American Constitutional federalism demands 2 different forms of separation: horizontal, with the federal government broken into 3 distinct branches; and, vertical, with the federal separate from the state and local.

Once the federal government begins managing the state and local governments (beyond the very limited requirements of the constitution) the federalist concept will break down, with local and state governments becoming branches of the federal bureaucracy.

autonomy has already been severely eroded by the deceitful carrots of federal monies.
