I didn't vote. Unfortunately I was not registered as I had just turned 18 when I missed the deadline. My vote would not have made a difference though so I don't feel bad.

Yeah what's up with freedomfighter's spam?

I'd agree that republics are better except for the soul fact that they vote for new decisions based upon old laws.

Old laws aren't always moral, or correct such as the current prohibition of marijuana. If democracy ruled, marijuana would rightfully be legalized but instead we still have a democratic republic. You guys may say "oh big deal who cares about marijuana" but this is a prime example of a freedom that is forgotten and taken away - just like many more potential freedoms that are so close to be taken away.

When you look at any freedom less than another you are throwing away your deserved rights that you were born with. The right to choose your destiny and be your own person and I don't care about anything else over freedom!!

Sorry I changed my email address that I receive these notifications to and it changed my username as well (took me a little bit to figure that out) so that I thought the mods deleted my posts.

But on a more on-topic note:
the birthers are clowns who want attention and can't stand to see a black president and will do whatever they can to try and make waves. Why not focus on something productive? Why not try and work with what we've got instead of moving backwards?

Obama was voted on by the majority of people, as McShame was a terrible choice for the rep's and would never get elected as long as there are moral/ethical people living in this country.

I admit, Obama may not be the greatest president, but he's a lot better than Bush or McCain and we have to understand that no one is perfect. You birthers are simply complainers who won't get anything productive accomplished.

QUOTE by Peacock
In reviewing the comments on the marijuana it seems that most opinions are based on personal experience of some kind. Of bigger importance is "Does the smoking of marijuana benefit society as a whole?" Do we want our doctor, mechanic, school bus driver, the car next to me, spouse, or kids smoking pot? I find it strange and interesting that the majority of people who are pushing hardest to change the law are probably already breaking the law and just don't want to get caught.
ENDQUOTE

Of course it will benefit society, as there will not be as many drug dealers, marijuana will be regulated which means it will be harder to get (80% of highschool students say it's easy to get marijuana than alcohol because you can go right down the hall and buy it off your local drug dealer friend without an ID). The money that the states earn from taxation will certainly help this crisis and the country as a whole, as an estimate of 10billion dollars a year could be capitalized if we legalized and regulated it.

Look at alcohol and cigarettes - yes they hurt society and hurt people's bodies. Many alcohol users become physically addicted and would NOT be able to quit. Drunks are stupid, violent and NO benefit to society, while marijuana users still remain with all their senses intact, more peaceful thinking and enlightened people.

There are positives and negatives to everything - and the positives greatly outweigh the negatives when it comes to the legalization of marijuana. The majority of people have stated this, and anyone who really thinks marijuana shouldn't be legalized can't seem to come up with a good reason as to why. They are just ignorant, greedy people who fight against freedom.

I fight FOR freedom, as this is America the Free (or so we claim). Why not turn that claim into a truth?

Live free or die.

ramjet you really sound full of yourself

i'm surprised your ego hasn't completely eaten you up.

obama's the president now and we got important things to deal with. He's not going to respect this site at all if people are crying about his damn birth cert.. Crying ain't gonna help the country nor the world.

government needs to stop treating us like children.

legalize and turn the lie of "America the Free" to a truth.

any organization that drug tests for weed better be drug testing for alcohol as well - those damn hypocrits would let an alcoholic who can't take care of his body have the job, but not a healthy potsmoker? please, let's fix this bogus issue.
brianp 9 months ago
whether he posts a fake birth cert or a real one, it's not gonna change a damn thing for better or worse so stfu and move on.

Why would you think that?

If anything, I'm surprised there hasn't been more spam, so far the boards look pretty clean.

This is an issue of State's rights and has no business being discussed at the national level until a significant number of states have ratified legislation to warrant a federal position, tax, or other inter-state regulation.

How can you say that? Seems to me like you are blindly following the rule book, when the answer is already in your mind.

Put yourself in other people's position. People who enjoy the plant and are able to live a perfectly normal life with a decent job and a family are being criminalized for this outrageous law. Waiting for the states to all rally up will take too long and sees like a complete waste of effort when we could hit a home run and have it legalized on the national level.
brianp 9 months ago
This is a human freedom that nature gave me when I was born. The government is hugely overstepping their bounds to say that I can't consume a plant that grew naturally out of the earth.

Think about it for a second. Are your morals in line? Anyone against the legalization of marijuana is against freedom.

Even if you don't consume marijuana, it is still a freedom and a right that anyone who chooses to deserves. Don't be greedy, open your mind and see that the government did NOT create life, and no, they aren't gods yet (however, they will be if we keep handing over our freedoms to them).

One of my favorite quotes:

"When they took the fourth amendment, I was quiet because I didn't deal drugs. When they took the sixth amendment, I was quiet because I had never been arrested. When they took the second amendment, I was quiet because I didn't own a gun. Now they've taken away the first amendment, and all I can do is be quiet." - Fred Albury

Realize that any deserved freedom is just as important as the rest. If you let the government think they can take away our freedoms, by golly they will do it! They want power (over us) and if we spoon feed it to them, they are gonna keep taking it.

brianp 9 months ago
It's a freedom that humans were born with. The government has no right to say I can't make a personal decision such as smoking marijuana.

There should be an age limit of 21 for marijuana consumption which may not be completely fair, but at least it gives adults their well deserved freedom.

Once one personal freedom is sacrificed, the rest are just as vulnerable. Don't be foolish and think for a second that the government has any right to tell me I can't consume marijuana.
