Micheal Bradford, I agree with you 100%.You have hit the nail on the head. The government owes it to the citizens of this country to have an open debate of this topic wich is in reality the right of the people to choose whether or not to use marijuana for recreational purposes. There has been far too much misinformation generated by the likes of the "Partenership for a drug free America".Some of their informercials are nothing short of absurd.I believe that's why so many of our youth are using it to this day, because teen's aren't stupid. They know what's true and what isn't.From the first time I got high at the age of 18,I've never stopped asking the question,"why is pot illegal?"It's a medical fact that a human being can't overdose on it.So with that said, how can it be a health issue? The truth is that it's a moral issue and I hope and pray to God that I never live in a country where everyone share's the same set of moral belief's.
What about the Mongomery GI bill? People who serve in the armed forces should never be denied this "Federally funded"educational opportunity.tO THINK OR SAY ANY DIFFERENT IS UN-AMERICAN!
nsdq_160, I understand that you have some mixed feeling's about this whole marijuana issue.I really must inform you that unless marijuana is fully legalized, taxed and regulated just like alcohol and tobacco. The government will never allow legalization strictly for personal use cultivation and possession simply because it really needs to be controlled in order to keep it out of the hand's of children and to milk it for all the tax dollars that be generated by legal commerce. To just legalize it for people who own their own homes and land and are able to grow enough for personal use will exclude all those who live in apartment's who's owners ,in most cases would never be none too sympathetic to the idea of someone having a 100 plant growing operation going on in one of their unit's.Anyone can grow marijuana just like anyone with half a brain can make alcohol. The government wised up to this fact during prohibition and the years afterwards when they had hell trying to make the moonshiners pay taxes on the alcohol they were producing. To think that the government should just let people grow and use marijuana with zero interference from the government or law enforcement is a hippie notion that the government will never accept. The politicians who support legalization are looking at the tax revenue potential as well as the billions of dollars that are waisted yearly fighting a war against a plant who's popularity will only continue to grow as the tobacco industry slowly fades into history.
I'm all for legalizing marijuana in all it's many forms, but when it comes to the hard drugs like cocaine, heroine and meth,it becomes more complex. Most marijuana user's are hard working employee's as well as student's and most of them peace loving people who wouldn't harm a soul.As far as hard drugs are concerned,I think that to legalize any of them would be opening Pandora's box and could cause some serious trouble for at least 5-10 years. It's a fact that no matter how cheap the government could sell these drugs to addict's,the addicts will continue to commit crimes to support their habit's.How else will they be able to buy them?To think for one minute that a crack addict or a heroin junkie would seek employment to feed their habit if these drugs were legal is insane.Plus if I owned my own company, there is no way in hell I'd ever hire a practicing drug addict.I would hire marijuana user's,but I would have to have a test that can show if they have used it within a time window of 10-12 hours before reporting for work.As of right now,no such test exist. So even if it were 100% legal, who could buy it and use it if all the high paying job's continue to hire and fire based on drug testing?I'm all for legalizing marijuana for adult's over the age of 21,but if me and million's of other hard working tax paying citizen's can't use it because of the risk of losing our job's,then I'm most definately against legalizing it because it would cause more problem's than we have now.In order for this country to fully reap the reward's of marijuana legalization, the recent use test must be developed. It would be easy to detect it if people only smoked it,but you can eat it and drink it as well, and there it becomes nearly impossible to detect recent use because THC leaves the body to slowly as opposed to alcohol. So to legalize marijuana only for a certain segment of our population while excluding another who are the back bone of this nation,is impractical and wholly unfair.People can sit and say that drug testing is wrong and it's their bodies and noone should have the right to know what people do in their privacy of their own homes and they are 100% right to think so,but the sad fact is that for most adult's in the work place, drug testing is a stark reality and nothing will ever change that.We have only to look back a mere 25 years and see who's squarely to blame for this.Ronald Reagan and George H.W.Bush,and the voter's of that "JUST SAY NO"era.
Let me say this again in case you were too stoned to get my point,Sobi and Jason. To kill a child whether in the womb or outside of it is murder and that's not my world view,it's plain common sense.Sobi, you have no morals and you probably have not one child of your own.Jason, you sure seem to know a lot about molesting little boys.I'm not a idol worshipping catholic, but even still, thought's about molesting little boy's never enter my mind, but apparently you have some issues in that area.
When a woman who pays to have her unborn baby murdered or a so-called doctor who perform's abortion's for their way of living stand's before a holy omnipotent and omnipresent creator God.They will have no word's to say. They know that they are damned and deserve to burn in hades until after the great white throne and then they can burn in the lake of fire until the end of eternity.Judging from these post and comment's there are far too many people who think that there is no God or a final judgement beyond the grave for the act act of pretending to be God by choosing to decide who is fit to live and who's not. This line of thinking was refined and perfected by the SS way back in 1942 at the Wansee conference in Berlin Germany.Today it's a woman's issue, but tomorrow who know's where this line of thinking will lead.If the abortionist had their way all children with autism or any form of mental retardation would be put to death. We have such a tolerant society now days.I just can't help but think that one day a generation will grow out of the ashes of this one and judge this one and take the proper step's to ensure that unfit parent's as well as all baby murderer's get what they deserve.
Elizabeth Tucker, I read you comment and I agree with you almost 100%,but abortion isn't just a social issue,it's a human issue.Regardless if you are a man or woman it's a human issue. To say the contrary is to say that men and women are different species.I have three children and I wouldn't trade one day with them for a life I could have had without them and my wife feel's the same way.God bless you and America.
No Sobi,it's a human issue. To kill a innocent life is murder no matter how you look at it.The goverment refuses to keep record's of all the women who suffer from suicidal depression after an abortion or all the women who have died while recieving an abortion.I'm not bible thumping.I'm simply asking you and other's of like mind to consider for a moment that you have the greatest responsibility in the world and with that responsibility you ,as a member of the human race have the obligation to protect any child that is concieved in your womb. Now I'm not negating the responsibility of the male factor in this issue, but trying to solve a relationship problem or dissolve a relationship just because two people were horney enough to have sex,but not comitted to each other enough to raise a child is no reason to kill a unborn baby. The very first abortion clinic in this country suffered through 60,000 abortions in 6 months.By the time those 6 months were over, almost all of the nurses were suffering from severe depression as well as other personality disorder's.These people had to put aside all compassion and human instinct to kill those 60,000 infant's and they each paid a dear price as a result. All of this is a matter of public record and you can check it out for your self.I work with women and I served with them in the military, and I have nothing but respect for them and their right's.But this abortion issue is a human issue and it's not merely a matter of a woman's right to choose. If abortion was legal and practiced 2,000 years ago, then we would not be here right now to argue about all this.I'm not stating my point of view.I'm just laying down the facts to you as best I can and in a way that you will listen to.My challenge to you is this.Have a child of your own and watch a video of an abortion and then look at your child and then email me at jedidaddy@ymail.com or look me up on myspace under my name Terry Owens and tell me how you feel in your inner most soul how you feel about abortion.God bless you and Shalom.
Sobi, This issue isn't a just a woman's issue. It's a human issue and if you can't see that then you are either a non parent or a lesbian and in either case your opinion is moot.I have zero pity for the baby murderer who was inturned murdered recently and when you and all those like you die,I will have no sympathy either. If you support murder then you should be murdered. If you make your living by commiting murder then you should be murdered the same way a unborn baby is murdered in abortion clinics all throughout this country.By the way my name is Terry Owens and to hell with you all!
Rape and incest make up less than one tenth of one percent of all abortions performed. This argument is a smoke screen the abortionist use to lure more and more women into the abortion clinic's.Even if it were the product of rape or incest, are any of you in the position to play God and get to decide who lives and who dies just because you don't agree with the circumstances of a pregnancy? In case any of you haven't noticed, more and more of our youth are becomimg increasingly anti abortion. So if any of you pro baby murderer's want to condemn me then face the fact that abortion is the ACT OF TAKING A HUMAN LIFE,,,,,PERIOD. My name is Terry By God Owens and I will fight abortion until the day I die.
Jason Turoc, Do you have any children of your own? If not then how can you justify injecting a corrosive acid into the lungs of a unborn baby?Or how can you justify inserting a tube into the cranium of a baby and sucking their brains out? You're probably a teenager with zero life experience and have not one shred of morality like most young people in your generation as well as the generation I grew up in.
I'm for the value of human life. Both for the born as well as the unborn.Have you or any of you ever thought about what kind of mentality it takes to kill a unborn baby?Do any of these abortion practicioner's have children of their own?If they do then how can can they face them with the blood of hundred's if not thousand's are still on their hand's?When did it become acceptable to equate a unborn child with a cancerous tumor? The whole abortion industry stinks of the same cold blooded heartless way of thinking that it took to carry out Hitler's final solution of the Jewish question.I do have compassion Elizabeth and I also have a passion for life and defending life.Far too many people refuse to recognize the humanity of a unborn fetus just like the nazi's refused to accept the Jews as being a part of the human race.I have three children and I hate child killers. If adult's want to smoke pot then they should have the right to do,but when it come's to the murder of of our future, then something has to be said and done to stop this senseless holocaust.
I agree that it's our own bodies to with as we will, but the act of abortion is the most brutal atrocity that ever been so widely accepted in all of human history.Don Wood hit the nail on the head when he said that to take a human life is murder regardless of whether it's a violent crime victim or in the clinical setting of an abortion clinic. When a doctor take the physicians oath, they must swear to do no harm. What could be more harmfull than to butcher a helpless baby?A baby who's only crime was to be concieved by heartless parents who don't want to be bothered with the responsibility of caring for a so called unwanted child.I can understand if it was a one time thing, because passions rage and things happen, but to use abortion as means of birth control is really a crime against humanity.Abortion on demand is the product of degenerate mind's who have no concept of morality nor places any value on human life. When a baby is in their mother's womb, they have a body wich consist of hand's,leg's,feet, fingerprints and a brain. They also have emotions and the number one emotion they feel is unconditional love for their mother. How can any parent who pays a doctor to murder their child or any so-called doctor who's lively hood consist of killing babies, dare to say that they are member's of the human race? You know it's really a travesty of justice when a 16 year old child can, with or without her parent's knowledge or consent pay a doctor to kill her unborn baby. Not to mention the fact that many sexual predators are saved from prosecution because the girl is never asked one time who the father is.It's really a travesty of justice to think that while all this is taking place,it's illegal in most states for a hard working, tax paying citizen to smoke a joint in the privacy of their own homes. What's wrong with this picture? How can a state outlaw the death penalty for murderer's and child molester's and still allow abortion on demand to continue unabated? The whole abortion industry is founded on selfishness and greed.Selfishness on the part of the million's of parent's who ignore their most basic parental instinct's by paying a "doctor" to kill their child. The greed, are the doctor's who make millions by killing children. This isn't bible thumping,,this is common sense.
I know all about the Bureau of vital statistics and the fact that it's humanly impossible to achieve a lethal dose of THC.What I'm saying is that no one,,absolutely no one under the age of 18-21 has any buisness drinking alcohol, using tobacco or using marijuana.I've wittness firsthand the damage cause by parents who allow their teenager's to smoke and drink.I know that there's a big difference between alcohol and marijuana, and if my children were to ever seek to experiment with either one of the two,I'd much rather see them use marijuana any day of the week.A close friend of mine was going through a tough time with his girfriend and her father back in 1988,and he drank a whole case of beer and shot his brains out.His parents had been letting him drink at home for years. He was only 20.A year later, another friend of mine was hanging out at a hot dog stand in a Wal Mart parking lot after work, and he and another friend of mine were hit by a car driven by a 17 yeard old boy who was drinking and smoking pot.My friend Terry Pepper was dragged over a mile under that car and he died an excruciating death. He was 19 years old. Those two examples were tragedies, but the worst case I ever knew, was a family of 7.This woman named Carla who had 4 children lived with her mother who was named Carla also.Everyone called her granny Carla. She was a old hippie, and she loved to smoke pot and tell stories about the 60's.Her daughter Carla had a big meth problem and her brother Marshall was into meth and crack, and yes they had started using pot before they were 13,because their hippie mother had given it to them. The younger Carla's two oldest children were 13 and 12 and they both smoked as well.Marshall killed a guy in a coke deal that went wrong back in 1992,and he's serving 33 years for murder and arson and he had to serve 10 years flat, day for day for a federal fire arms charge. He was 25 when he went to prison and he will be 60 when he's finally released.Granny Carla passed away 2 years ago.Her daughter Carla was caught on a surveilance camera digging for food in a garbage dumpster. Both of her two older children are both on meth and their lives are really messed up.Life experience, both from my own life as well as from other's has shown me that children have no buisness using any mind altering substances,,,period.I'm convinced that if the school system had been allowed to test those children back in the 80's and early 90's ,that they would have been removed from the situation and maybe, just maybe their lives would be 180 degrees different as a result.Legalize marijuana? Yes!But for adults only.
1withtheforce.I can see that you aren't 100% clear on the federal drug testing laws that the government implemented way back in the 1980's.Most of the high paying job's perform some form of drug testing and they always will, regardless if marijuana becomes legal or not.Until a test is developed to detect whether a person has smoked, eaten or even has had THC in their mouths within a time window of 10-12 hours has not been developed. So even after legalization, people will still be losing their job's for using it.Legalizing marijuana is only half the battle. The next war will be against workplace discrimination against marijuana user's.I keep reading all these comment's about how the government nor employers should have the right to drug test anyone for marijuana.I don't care how much public support for marijuana legalization grows. It's not going to happen unless on a nation wide basis unless a drug test is developed that can guarantee with 100% accuracy recent pot use.In addition to all this, you have to realize that if marijuana does become legal, every elementary and high school student in this country will be forced to undergo drug testing. That's the main argument against legalization, and that is keeping it out of the hand's of children of any age. There is no way that the government is going let adult's have the right to buy, sell and use marijuana without some sort of testing to see if they are giving it to their children or some elses.
I truly hope and pray that the government is paying attention to all these pro-legalization comments.I believe that they have been slowly testing the political waters ever since Bill Clinton said that he smoked but didn't inhale. Now 18 years later we have a Black president who inhaled several times.Big KUDOS Mr.President! Now more and more citizens are voicing their opinions on this issue and we can thank this to the inter-net as being the voice of a new generation. If president Obama doesn't make some serious head way in the direction toward's legalization within his term, then every pot smoker and people who support legalization should vote him out of office.I know that he's having to deal the president of Iran Amadinajab as well as North Korea pointing nukes at us and our allies. But 20,000,000 marijuana arrest is no trivial issue to the voters of this country.
What more can I add to what's already been said.To all those who have posted comments in favor of legalizing marijuana,,,GOD BLESS YOU!!!This guy Ahmed,,whatever.I'm not sure what country he's from because definately doesn't use any American venacular I've ever heard.Marijuana causes mischief,,,wtf?
I am a truck driver and for many years I smoked pot and had a managable life.I never used before or during my driving hours because when you operate a 18 wheeler that weighs in a upward's of 80,000 plus pounds, you really need to be 100% focused on your task at hand.About 20 years ago the good old federal government basically took over the whole trucking industry and in doing so they forced every trucking company to implement both pre-employment and random drug testing.I'm not against drug testing per say,but I hate the fact that if a person who works hard and pays taxes and is a otherwise law abiding citizen and just happens to smoke a joint in the privacy of their own homes, they are at risk of losing their job's for the next 30 days. There really needs to be a way of testing for recent use,say within a time frame of 10 hours. No employer, law enforcement agency and most definately the federal or state government's should have the right to judge people for what they do in private and on their time.
If you have ever been arrested for posession or losing your job due to a drug test, then you would understand that %100 for a pack of joint's is a small price to pay.
Yes! Legalize it and and tax it for all it's worth.Be done with this issue once and for all and forever. If all it does is to generate countless billions of tax dollars and potentially reduce hard drug and alcohol consumption in this country, then future generations will praise this one for having courage.
For far too many years have the right wing christian conservatives ran this country like a "theocracy".Sure,it's a free country, but only for those who go to church a behave like christian's even if they're not.All prohibition laws are base on so called christian morality.Texas is one of the worst example of the reality of what I'm saying, but Louisiana is by far the most extreme. That state is ran by baptist, pentacostals and catholics and is one of the most racially divided states I've ever lived in.If marijuana is ever going to be legalized, all user's and people of like mind's are going to have to stand up and show our president that we are just as powerful as body of voters as the right wing christian's.Make no mistake about it,the christians have always been the true law makers of this country. But one thing is for certain, public opinion for supporting the legalization of marijuana grows more and more everyday, and it will continue to do so.Our government has to see that if legalizing marijuana would help to curb America's thirst for alcohol,a deadly but legal poison, then it would be a blessing indeed.I do not hate christians and as a matter of fact I consider myself one.I just hate how they have always tried to shove their world view and morals down the throats of Americans via legislation.Far too many of them refuse to understand the fact that people have been using marijuana since the dawn of time and they will continue to do so despite all the efforts of our government and law enforcement agencies. They also fail to see that the harder our government fights drugs and refuses to legalize and truly control them, the more and more wealthy and powerful the drug cartels of Mexico and columbia are becoming. It's easy for a preacher to stand before his congragation and preach against legalizing marijuana, because the gang violence hasn't reached his town ,,,yet. But the blood shed has already started to spill into this country. When will this insanity stop and when will sanity and compassion prevail? When our government and 70% of our citizen's finally decide to legalize some of the drugs the cartels make million's of dollars selling to the USA.
You can't get high on tomatoes sir.People who need cannabis for medical reasons should be able to go and buy it without having to go through the long process of cultivating enough to help them.As for people who want to grow indoors for recreational purposes and end up burning a whole apartment complex down and possibly killing someone deserve to go to jail because of their selfishness and total disregard for other people's lives or property. This very thing occured a few years ago here in Texas and an elderly woman died as well as a off duty nurse who was sleeping.Yes! If a person grows pot or tomatoes or cooks meth in a apartment complex and they cause a fire that either kills or destroy's property should go to jail.People can buy tomatoes in a store or market. If marijuana ever becomes legal, then we will be able to go and buy it as well. How would you feel if your apartment burned down and one or all of your family member's burned to death all because of some heat lamp that was used to grow marijuana?,,,,,Or tomatoes,or meth?
The only way for the government to be able to able to tax marijuana is for them to prohibit personal use cultivation of over 6 plant's.Plus the laws against trafficking as well as engaging in a on going criminal enterprise should remain as they are.People think that in Amsterdam, you can legally grow and possess as much as you want to,but that simply isn't so.If the government here is ever kind enough to legalize marijuana. The standard amount for sale, use and possession should be from 5-10 grams per person, and cultivation of over 6 plants should be a felony. If someone burns down a apartment complex because of indoor cultivation, then they need to go to prison. To legalize without regulation would be a disaster. Many laws should forever remain in place to protect those who don't wish to be affected by marijuana use, either at home or in the workplace.
It's a fact that ever since the 18th amendment, our government has never seen fit to legally empower it's self to declare or enforce any malum prohibitum law.I'm sure that the Supreme Court is all too aware of this, but in regard's to drug's like cocaine, heroin,LSD and methamphetamine. There really need's to be law's to prevent the manufacture, sale and possession of these known poison's.There really need's to be another amendment to our constitution regarding these drug's,and there need's to be one that legally protect's the right's of responsible adult's who choose to use cannabis.
Not all pot smokers are gang banging car-jacking parasites! Many of us and in fact most of us are hard working tax-paying citizens who are sick and tired of being treated as criminals.Abortion is 100X's more destructive than pot use ever could be.Wake up because you are going to one day live in a USA that accepts not only cannabis and all the tax dollars, but the users as well. The gang bang/car jacking pot smoker comment was a display of total ignorance.Or was it racial predjudice hiden behind a self percieved moral high ground?
David, I would like to tell you that I'm educated and I have a high paying job who had to implement random drug testing not because of a high percentage of on the job users, but because our government saw fit to penalize my industry if they didn't.Prior to this new policy, only me as well as few others use pot.But we did our job as well and in many cases better than our non-user or alcoholic coworkers did.I asertain from your comment that you know abosolutely nothing about cannabis except from what you've been programmed to believe.Opium is a drug that has a definate medicinal use but as a recreational drug,it would be a plague on society. While cannabis on the other hand has never killed anyone and that can be verified by checking with the bureau of vital statistics in Washington DC.Plus,if all pot smokers were lazy bum's,then this country would have collasped years ago.Your comment was good, but uneducated and substanciated.
I'm a 41 year old white male and I vote and I pay taxes.I'm sick and tired of seeing people go to jail, lose their children, lose their property and lose their job's just because they choose to use cannabis either for medicinal purposes or for recreational purposes. For all of you who read this with pot nazi eyes,I want to let you know that I'm not a user who want's to get high.I have a job that engages in the facist practice of random drug testing and to protect my job as well as my professional license,I choose not to use.I vote according to my belief's and I believe that American's are at a point of time in our history that we can use cannabis and still be a usefull and productive society.I vote according to my belief's.
