In software engineering, we use something called revision control to track every change made to the code. In software engineering, we use something called revision control to track every change made to the code. This allows us to collaborate more effectively, and to isolate problems (and place blame) when something goes wrong.
Congress should use revision control on bills, especially for budget bills. I want every lawmaker to have to log into a system when submitting a change to a bill. I want to be able to compare versions (drafts) of a bill. I want to be able to see every line of pork that is slipped in, every exception that is added, and every subtle change of wording. And I want the name of the lawmaker attached to every change.
