  Financial Punishment for those who HIRE Illegal Aliens

  I grew up with a Green Card. I have nothing against LEGAL immigrants. I do have something against people who think that the immigration rules do not apply to them. It makes the rest pay for their misbehavior.   However, locking up and deporting illegal aliens has been, and continues to be, ineffective, because desperate migrants have little to lose, and even if we dissuade that individual, there are many many more where he or she came from.

  The Coyotes who bring illegals into the U.S. only do so because there is demand. They do not generally force people to come here. They only facilitate what the migrant wants to do already. The trick is to reduce the appeal of coming here while breaking the rules.

  Most illegal immigrants want to come here for one thing - money. If the jobs were not here for illegals, they would not come.

  The people who hire illegals - the restaurant owners, the rich people who want maids and childcare, the HUGE agricultural businesses, do indeed have a lot to lose. If being caught knowingly hiring an illegal caused them to go bankrupt, to lose all of their property, they would stop hiring them. We would not even need to put the responsible parties in jail, which costs something.

  We should streamline the paperwork to hire foreign people legally.

  We need a process for American foster children whose birth certificates have been lost to get legal paperwork, and we need punishment for the adults responsible for these foster children, and who allowed this to happen.

  We should make it easier to be legal, and a lot worse FOR THE EMPLOYER not to be legal.

  Require States to Comply with International Law in Ballot Access

  One of the reasons why so many of those elected into government run unopposed, or continue to get re-elected whether or not they have done a good job is that it requires a lot of resources in some parts of America just to get onto the ballot.   One of the reasons why so many of those elected into government run unopposed, or continue to get re-elected whether or not they have done a good job is that it requires a lot of resources in some parts of America just to get onto the ballot. After having expended these resources to get onto the ballot, one has nothing left to campaign with.

  Some states even have different laws for Democrats and Republicans than for anyone else, and make it EVEN HARDER for independents and smaller political parties to get onto the ballot than for the big parties.

  It has been argued that making it so hard to get onto the ballot violates international law, as defined in treaties which America has signed. I am not an expert in International Law, but given that no state, as far as I know, has been required to change its ballot access laws because of these treaties, this assertion seems plausible to me.

  Since it is the Federal government that signs the treaties, it should be the Federal government which makes sure that our country complies with the treaties that we sign. That means it is the responsibility of the Federal government to verify that state ballot access laws comply with the treaties which America has signed.

  Please recategorize all references to Obama's birth

  If some people want to talk about eligibility and birth certificates, let them! For the rest of us, we don't want to clog up the discussion with this. So, since these folks will object if their ideas are deleted, please make a special category for discussion of Obama's birth, his birth certificate, his delivering doctor, his passport, or any similar topics, and let the rest of us who are not interested get on with ...more »

  Make H1B Visa unlimited in number and very expensive

  There are two reasons to bring in a person from another country to fill a job in America. The first reason is that you cannot find the qualifications locally. The second reason is that the imported person is cheaper. Importing cheaper people drives down salaries in America and depresses the economy. This is bad.   Require States to Replace Insecure Voting Machines

  There is a lot of evidence that voting machines can be hacked. Just google it. There is a suspicion that elections have been stolen. Our country needs to have faith in elections, so now that we know that many of the machines we use are insecure, let us replace the machines with machines which our best expertise says cannot be hacked.

  Open source software would be a start.
