We shouldn't make a new law everytime someone's child dies in a shocking random way.
Laws should not be made in response to a single issue. If we want a new law, the legislature should have to wait at least 2 years from an event that raised the issue. We need to wait long enough for rational minds to debt the good and bad outcomes. Knee jerk reactions are usually wrong.
Our existing laws cover most issues in these rare events alread. Someone kills 50 kids at a school, doesn't mean we need new gun laws, school fencing and lock down, parental notification, RFID branding of school students. Sometimes bad things just happen and there is nothing you can do about it.
Creating a new law just takes away basic rights from everyone. Random violence and rare freak events happen regardless of what laws. Most of the time these people are breaking dozens of laws already. A law doesn't stop something from happening especially if the person is willing to die already.
We cannot stop random violence and we should STOP trying.
