No mandatory requirements: Free to choose No health insurance; Free to choose Employer or Private health insurance; Free to wait for Medicade/Medicare;
Do I remember wrong or wasn't Health Care and Prescriptions tax deductible? All Government (Federal and State) needs to keep out of the way.
This mess was created by making it LAW for hospital emergency rooms to not be able to turn anyone away, this was misinterpreted that they have to "Provide" care. It was meant to prevent loss of Life/ Limb/ Sight due to inability to pay (or have proof of ability to pay).

Solution is obvious UN needs to contract Somali Pirates as Inspectors. Pirates want money, UN needs experienced ship inspectors, it's a win-win situation.
Per a web search for Somali pirates: "Somali pirates don't wear eye patches, and instead of swords they have RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades). They use small, fast speedboats to get around and work in crews of 10 or so. Once they find a good target, they launch hooks and rope ladders up to board the ship and overwhelm the crew. They often attack at night. In 2008, 40 ships were successfully captured and ransoms were paid ranging from $500,000 to $2 million. That is quite the incentive for poor fishermen living in a war torn African country. Successful pirates live well. They marry beautiful women, drive around in big cars, build big houses, and buy increasingly sophisticated weapons. Somali pirates have accountants, lend money to businessmen, and are basically running the economy of the autonomous region of Puntland."
Since no one else can do it, hire them.

No need to wait for 2010 election, Californians know how to do the petitions for recall. You have done it for Governor, let's get this on the “Fast Track” (as Nancy likes to say) it just can't wait! Get the petitions ready for the 4th of July weekend. Signatures will be easy to collect at TEA parties.
I'm sure there are some other states that are able to Recall their Representatives and or Senators too. Then we can see how the rest of the others with their “Socialist Agenda” behave.

Far too often regulations and laws only apply to Truck Drivers. We do the best we can to operate in a very dynamic environment. And yet the Truck Driver is held accountable. There are very few items in USA that are not affected by the Trucking Industry. Every year Truck Drivers are given the blame for accidents on Americas hiways and side streets (false arguments according to National Hiway Safety statistics where 80% are caused by the cars interacting with trucks). The real problem that exists is how truck drivers are compensated. Since the 30's Over-the-Road drivers have been urged to be mileage oriented "if your tires are not turning you don't get paid" compensation by the mile. Recent changes have required Professional Drivers to keep accurate records of their hours-of-service with severe penalies for violations. With satelite and computer tracking.
What has been needed is accountability on the part of trucking companies and their dispatchers (or other job title). Perhaps licencing and regulation of Dispatchers and even Shipping and Recieving persons (the customers). We do have strict requirements for Hazmat shipments.

Before the Department of Education was even thought of this country did very well with simple Parent controlled One Room Schools. Benifit of one room for all grades 1-12: the younger students benifit from years of hearing the older ones discuss and explain details at the "blackboard"; Younger one learn behavior patterns from not just their peers (one grade) but the whole classroom; by the time they have made it to graduation they are teaching all the younger grades from the front of class. Before 1900 most schools were one room school houses. They graduated academicly qualified students ready for college or business. Many dropped out at 6th grade ready to work, since they were able to do math and read/write at 6th grade level (enough to get by and fuction. We need to return to that cancept.

The newly established "Pay Csar", should make it his first priority to address the excessive compensation of Congress. The idea of Congress having voted to make their pay raises automatic and therefore no longer have to attach them as bills to fiscal year budget at a time of economic turmoil is an outrage. I suggest that their pay be re-evaluated by this Pay Csar and reduced to something much closer to the National Median Income (just refer to Dept. of Labor statistics). Also note that even the Military Pay Chart has a note #1 for pay of even the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Basic pay for an O-7 to O-10 is limited by Level II of the Executive Schedule which is $14,750.10) monthly base pay, that eauals $177,001.20 annual salary. Of course our Joint Chiefs of Staff have extensive responsibility and are held accountable to the President and Senate. Congress is only held accountable to the voters at re-election time.

As the saying goes, I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6. The implied statement is I would rather be tried in court by a jury of my peers, than be carried to my grave by 6 pallbearers. It is my suggestion that a third house of Congress is needed. To be staffed by persons that are selected from the registry of eligible voters. No education requirement. Serving just for one year term (like grand jury selection). This makes for a Nationwide lottery of eligibility. Number of seats should be based on population (same as House of Representatives). Free of election, one term per person for life. Having a third co-equal House of Congress might put a check on the overly lobbied, and corrupt elected House and Senate that we are so ashamed of now.
