The US is behind in the public transportation system, trains are too expensive to travel across country and we have always been an automobile country. Create a two way Rail system that is owned by the United States

The railroad should be an extension of the interstate highway system that allows all companies and individuals equal access. If you believe in free trade you probably believe in free interstate commerce. Allowing a single company to take precedence over another because they own the road interferes in interstate commerce. Nuclear Freight

Our ships of war are powered by nuclear propulsion systems. Our enemies would be very happy if they could destroy one of these ships causing a nuclear issue. Why then can't our oil tankers and cargo ships be powered by nuclear power? Freight trains - nuclear (or at least make them hybrid with all that potential regenerative braking)
