Deliberative Democratic models of Governance

what has always upset me about this government has been a lack of transparency and one of the reasons why we lack transparency frankly is due to the institution of representation itself. Within political science research has shown that highly centralized forms of governance tend towards corruption for a myriad of reasons I won't get into here. On important issues like health care, though, I know that the American public ...more »

Public-Private Partnerships

Aren't "public-private partnerships" the fundamental aspect of Fascism? Mussolini said Fascism is more appropriately called Corporatism. Reminds me of how things are going here. Hitler tried public-private partnerships and you see how magical Nazi Germany was. We have a the worse, most dangerous public-private partnership there is: The creation of money by the Federal Reserve. Fascist!

Truly open proposals and review process

I am a part of the small business, and we would like to partner with larger businesses and a local university to be able to provide services to the government. Being "outside the beltway" and actually outside the Northern Virginia area, we can do software development and other services for much less than the typical "big guys" that seem to get all of the work. I think it would be interesting if we could submit proposals, ...more »

Follow model of halfbakery

Halfbakery.com is a site where people can submit inventions and ideas (no matter how wacky), others can comment on it, and annotate it with link references and images. In addition, thumbs-up (bun) and thumbs-down (fishbones) functionality allows users to rate each other's ideas, and it works very well. You can click on a user's name to see all of their other ideas, and you can browse similar ideas within the category. ...more »

Campaign: Federal Advisory Committees

Utilize former Advisory Board Members

Term limits for Board members have caused valuable input on federal issues to be lost. Significant time is spent educating new members - long term members are often the most informed. Create special avenues for former members to provide input, such as separate blogs, annual meetings, to tap into the time investment made into these citizens.

Rejuvenate the Public Transportation

The US is behind in the public transportation system, trains are too expensive to travel across country and we have always been an automobile country. To rejuvenate the system, we would need to: -Invest in quiet and efficient trains for cities and towns (no one will vote in loud trains by residents) -High speed trains across country. -Buses to deliver patrons out of circuit. -One system plan for all. The costs ...more »

Redirect Secret Intelligence Toward Open Democratic Intelligence

I have five longer proposals up, on Electoral, Intelligence, National Security, and Governance Reform, as well as an Open Source Agency that enables the reforms and reconnects citizens to information and power, but it has been suggested I offer a simplified variation for general consideration. 1. Stop spending $65 billion a year on secret intelligence that ignores 80% of what can be known in 183 languages (but is not ...more »

Governance Reform

Governance Reform—Coalition Approach, State Power, More Ethics “America can’t be governed by one man and his buddies—it takes a coalition team. The world, and America, have gotten too complex to rely on a single President being elected, and then leaving the rest of the team up to his preferences. America needs to see a candidate for President that has both the courage and the “big tent” philosophy of non-partisan teamwork ...more »

Give Citizens a Simple Checklist for Rating "Public Engagement"

When I attend a meeting that is supposed to involve some type of "public engagement", it would be nice to have a simple checklist that I could use to rate whether that meeting really was Transparent, Participatory, and Collaborative. This simple checklist could be the standard tool for citizens to provide feedback to government agencies about the quality of their public engagement activities. In fact, the requirement ...more »
