Branding people as "sex offenders" only serves to freighten our society as a whole. We are afraid to let our kids plan in the street because there may be a sex offender in the neighborhood. We stay in our homes out of fear because our streets are not safe.
We have these laws because someone released a non-reformed high risk offender back into the population. Instead of branding an entire class of people, lets just stop making the mistake that caused this problem in the first place.
We need to stop making laws to respond to one in a million cases. We now label all kinds of people as sex offenders. Two consenting juveniles, 3 year age difference, non-violent crimes. It's all ridicules.
If they are a threat to society, that is what jail is for. Keep them until they are reformed. If they cannot be reformed, keep them forever. Jail is about protecting our healthy society from people who choose not to or are not able to abide by our laws of civilization.

This goes for all you dope smokers as well.
They are all drug crazed and can never be reformed no matter how much government research you show them.
I SAY LOCK THEM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!!!
I agree 100%. Time served and it should be over after parole or probation. These people who are not repeat offenders will never be able to get a job or live down the whispers. If they are repeat offenders keep them in jail and let out the drug prisoners who don't belong there anyway.
Why is keeping someone in a cage for life kinder than execution? Fixated pedophiles cannot be cured. Execution prevents future victimization and is both more dignified for the offender and cheaper for the rest of the tax payers.
