Social Security Disability Evaluation

Why Is This Idea Important?: because the social security and disabilities fund should be for people who have paid into the system and those who can not work any longer or who have a short term disability .. the waste and fraud involved within this program are unbelievable , and those who are deserving of disability are many times refused help.I just don't understand why it is so hard to run a program like this....

Have everybody who is on disability re-evaluated each year..I know of kids who are suppose to be learning disabled ,but they are not, and just what is it that an infant is disabled from? Disability should have remained for Workers who could no longer work. We have illegal aliens who have children , right here in my community who claim their kids are learning disabled, and they get checks, 3 in one family 5 in another.. The mother said she had the kids act like the can't learn English and math...go figure, ask teachers ,they call these crazy checks.. I know of one case where the mother has never worked at a job where she paid taxes and she purposely drank and used drugs, while pregnant, so that she would have kids with disabilities of some sort, she parties every month for the first week , and then the kids go without the rest of the month..

I think Disability payments should be strictly for those people who have worked and paid into the system, disability for children and infants should be at the welfare level in the state..Although I still don't see what they are disabled from doing....all person who are found to be able to work should be put to work....

Pay a reward to those who report abuse of the system... Re-evaluate people every year!!! cut the fraud!!!!

  1. Some Children will always be disabled, as a result of a learning disability, autism, physical impairnment or mental retardation. LD, Autistic and learning disabled children have an annual IEP where they determine the progress the child has made and, in cooperation with the parents, teachers and professionals make new goals and objectives. By the time these children are 21, they will be pretty much stuck with their label, and they arent expected to make, that much improvement, although some do. So there are always exceptions to the rule. Also sometimes children are placed in a program, (not in my city), who are having problems, so they are able to correct the situation, so it doesnt become a handicapping condition, which I believe is the right thing to do. YOu dont want to wait until their condition, makes the handicapped; you want to correct it in the bud. I do not think teachers knowingly abuse the system but again, there may be exceptions.

I do think more money should be allocated to children who are having problems, but who are not, yet, identified as being handicapped, so help could be implemented, as early as possible to prevent handicaps.

by allowing these so called children who don't have a disability to continue to reap the rewards of never working and acting stupid on purpose , you deny a child who really has a health issue..I actually know a woman and a child who I have heard the mother tell him to act stupid, and misbehave ... what is that teaching the child, there are no evaluation on this child, he has been receiving disability payments since he was 4, so where does this leave the adult when this kid grows up??? I do not believe a learning disability should be paid for by disability, place the burden on the state and let them devise a method of re-evaluation, and those caught in fraud should be held accountable......

I also know of a couple of men who are getting a check , and both work under the table for cash, so where does that leave the person with the real disability... This issue is a rampant fraudulent system, and I bet if you came to my county you would find about 5,000 adults who draw a check every month and work under the table.... and probably over 35% of the kids here are getting a crazy check..for their learning disability, yet they drive 4 wheelers and have game players, they manager to function just fine when the interest is a waste of time........

Yes if a child has a health issue then fine help it, but it should not come from the social security disability,

that program is for adults who have a disability that prevents them from working.. a kid don't work anyway so why pay them..

There are programs in schools to the tune of a wasteful amount in the hundreds of millions every year, that are there to help with learning problems. I don't think if you are a slow learner it should be called a disability. PERIOD!

  3. So many people USE the disability process in order to get something we all should have - free or close-to-free health care. So many people would never apply for disabilty and wait for three years to go by before being awarded if they could just walk into their local medical facility and get good health care. Fraud and abuse? Health care should be for anyone with the need. Many people trying to get on disability just want health care so they can go back to work. After three years of pretending to be sick so you can get a Medicaid card, you convince yourself you can never work for anyone else again ... or at least you keep hiding it. Why not have a system that gives eveyone who claims to be disabled AUTOMATICALY a health care card and requirement to get trained to do something that pays back in.

  4. It would be a huge wasted effort to reevaluate every disability every year. Reevaluations should depend on the disability and the likelihood that it will get better.

But conversely, the current process is hugely wasteful. SSA denies 70-75% of all disability claims, 10% of those denials are approved at the reconsideration hearing. And over half of the remaining 90% are approved upon an administrative law judge hearing.

That means at least 55% of the rejections are eventually overturned in favor of the claimant. I don't understand why SSA can't get it right the first time. The amount of effort they spend in rework is hugely expensive. And worse, they are denying benefits to some of the most vulnerable in our society.

I don't have a problem with SSA denying benefits to people who don't deserve them. But when over 55% of their denials are overturned, they are hurting too many legitimate disabled people with their shotgun approach to denials.
