Require all US Citizens Graduate From a College or University

Why Is This Idea Important?: Because the dumbing down of America is working, because we need to compete globally, because a high school education is too little education, because education helps alleviate poverty, because it is humane, because education is a right, not a privilege.

All US citizens should have to attend and graduate from an accredited college or university. Their education should be paid by the government if necessary. The US is far behind the rest of the world educationally, and it shows.

  1. Hasn't it occured to you that not everyone is smart enough to go to college? Many don't learn anything in high school as it is.

  2. I see you didn't list your thousands of exceptions.

That would be one way to eleminate home schooling wouldn't it...I mean if your goal is to keep taking our right to choose how we want to live and want to keep our kids brainwashed by the liberals schools...that is your goal right?

  3. You assume that all people are college material. Quite the contrary! Conduct some indepth teaching for a while and you will understand what I mean.

  4. Not everyone is college material. I've got two kids in college. They are college material. (Both of them are highly intelligent, yet very materialistic and self-centered.)

My third child is a B-C student. Not college material. But he works hard and isn't self centered at all. He has his own business doing landscaping and makes a lot of money. I've suggested that he travel around the world for two years after he turns 18, and then come back and pick up his business. I don't see why he should be forced to attend college.

  5. That kind of knowledge-laundering leads to the government cheating we all complain about here!

  6. Oh, so you think that going to college makes you smart? What a joke! I've worked with these educated fools over many years. I couldn't believe how utterly stupid they were.

College teaches a person WHAT to think, not HOW to think. And, of course, most of the professors are liberal. No wonder that thing in the White House wants everyone to go to college...so they can be brainwashed to enter into the liberal world!

Many successful people never attended college or dropped out, or even dropped out of high school. Conforming to "society" is not always the way to go.

My new career will enable me to earn more than most doctors or attorneys. One of my mentors/teachers regularly earns several million dollars a year. He is a high school dropout. I graduated high school with honor, IQ is 142.

Like most say...college is not for everyone. Ask J.K. Rowling and Bill Gates.

  7. I finally got to work on a degree 18 years after high school. Things had already been dumbed down beyond belief, and that was 25 years ago. I reviewed a lot of job applications from high school graduates who should have been held in 4th grade until they learned the basics. Why send someone to college if they can't do 5th grade work?

  8. But the NEA works so hard for the best interests our our k-12 pupils and all it ever requires is more money, right? One-room school houses operating on a shoe string budget did a better job educating people. Start with K-12 education reform. Abolish the NEA.

Case in point, can you pass an 8th grade test from 1895?

  9. Education is now aimed at creating docile little worker bees, and learning is secondary.

  10. Do you think that college graduates are going to pump septic tanks, farm the land, build roads? It takes all kinds of people to make this country work. I don't agree with anything that takes away personal choice. Education in school is graded on memory, not discovery.

  12. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are willing to give up their liberty and freedom of choice to Big Brother. No liberty = slavery.
