Much of the assistance has gone to big for profit business, government agencies and not for profits, when the bulk of the economy is driven by for profit small business innovation, development and growth. Yet the current SBA offers nothing direct to small for profit businesses or direct to individuals.
Grants, low interest loans and subsidies to for profit small businesses with a sound business plan, new idea and or support the goals of the public should have direct access to government support to start up, sustain, weatherize, employee retention and growth, innovation, with out a lot of red tape. e.g. family day cares that support better 0-5 growth, should have direct access to government support

Well I voted for this because I do feel some of the benefits are top heavy...but lets remember what the goal of the stimulus is...putting people back to work. And that should be the criteria for where the stimulus goes.
We need jobs. If big business does a better job of creating the highest amount of salaries going out for every dollar being paid in then give them the money.
I don't neccesarily believe they are...but that at least should be the criteria.
The goal should be stop the bleeding first. And put people back to work as well. But the government is putting infrastructure and government back to work, not the private sector where the bleeding is and the back bone of the economy is located. Measure for direct grants and subsidies to small business for profits with sound business plans and add strings to use. This is not micormanaging, these things are already in place for many governement groups and not for profits. The point is that they should be extended to the for profit small business private sector in a prudent manner.
And why do we need to pay shareholders and CEOs of a private company with taxpayer dollars again?
The point here is jobs. I haven't heard a peruasive argument that handing money over to companies who will take a significant amount of taxpayer money in profits and stick them in their pockets has a better multiplier than any government job.
