Legalize marijuana for agriculture, taxation, medical, bio fuel, AND TOURISM.

Why Is This Idea Important?: Shovel ready jobs, deficit reduction with new hemp taxes, compassionate medicine, renewable energy, all multiplied by the increase in tourism.

Legalize marijuana for agriculture, taxation, medical, bio fuel, AND TOURISM.

Henry Ford built his first car using plastic made from industrial hemp.

It was also powered by hemp diesel. The oil industry does not want this.

Industrial and medical hemp would generate billions of dollars in tax money.

Bio diesel is not my favorite fuel, but it can be "made in America".

Location, location, location, tourism in America would increase dramatically.

  1. Harvard studies have demonstrated that long term pot use damages the brain in the same spot that victims of bipolar disorder are damaged. Previous studies have demonstrated a link between pot use and bipolar disorder, but the Harvard study now demonstrates causation.

Did the corrupt drug companies and oil industry fund the research you use for your example.

How many people have died from marijuana, unlike alcohol, tobacco, and durg interactions like the one that killed Heath Ledger like Ambien CR, or the monkey that ripped off that womans face after being given Xanax, or the 8 out of 10 Colombine shooter kids that were on prozac, and the other two that were on Paxil ???

Hort to mention all the drunk drivers, smoking cancer pigs, and perc and oxy addicts.

  4. As curator of the USA Hemp Museum I have given this a lot of thought over the past 40 years of activism. This is about law and freedom, nothing else. Individuals have freedom. In California we have inalienable rights to privacy, safety, happiness, liberty, life, and property. Where does the prohibition of a natural plant fit into that legal scheme? Hemp cannot be grown because of the marijuana scare. Hemp is a trillion dollar crop. Marijuana is one of the safest therapudically active substances know to man. 5. Raising the point that cannabis legalization could significantly increase tourism to the U.S. is not what I'd call spin, I find it an excellent point I've never heard before, and more significant in hard economic times. People have a lot of options where to go for their vacations, any state that legalized cannabis would be making a significant addition to their competitive appeal.

No to cannabis legalization because you're worried about people driving UI cannabis? Well, unless you're a lot more worried about people driving UI alcohol (and ready to ask alcohol users to give up their drug use for the greater good), that sure sounds like crocodile tears to me. Not to mention that under the current regime people often have to drive, sometimes long distances, to get their supply, and, quality being variable and uncertain and price way up there, they have to well test out the produce before buying.

Metaphorically speaking: physician, heal thyself. Alcohol users, heal your own horrifically violent community and stop scapegoating cannabis users for your community's sins. Take a good look in your community mirror. Yeah, I know the average alcohol user is responsible, that doesn't distinguish their behavior in any way from the average cannabis user. But when it comes to serious abusers, or even just one episode of overuse, the problems caused by cannabis are chicken feed compared to the problems caused by alcohol.

  6. You misread me. I think prohibition is beyond the proper reach of government powers.

I see no reason we have to bribe our government with promise of money to stop infringing on our constitution rights. The 9th amendment reserves those rights to us.

I'm not worried about users driving, smoking, snorting, injecting, ingesting, or absorbing through osmosis.

The reason I call it spin is because it is part of the bribe the government to behave campaign. We need to slap them down, not coax them into good behavior.
