Acknowledge Agency Diversity in Structure and Function

Why Is This Idea Important?: Collaborative governance depends on a community of practitioners that encompasses dispute resolution specialists, ombuds offices, regulatory affairs staff, and public involvement practitioners. It is important to recognize and support the existing work in collaborative governance and the value of many disciplines. Independent and independent regulatory agencies may face different problems and issues than other agencies and departments, while all share the problems of lack of budget, lack of champions, and failure of managers to recognize and utilize these techniques.

Each agency is different. The Open Government Directive should acknowledge the great diversity across cabinet-level, independent and independent regulatory agencies in how the work of collaborative governance is organized and related to agency cultures and missions.
