Isn't Medicaid already national health care????

Why Is This Idea Important?: We do not need a change in our health care!!! Get out of our private lives, GOVERNMENY~~~

So the poor already receive health care free of charge and this also includes all immigrants plus ILLEGAL immigrants. Now, they want to tax our health care that comes as a benefit of actually having a job? They will also raise our taxes, just watch. They want to tell you what you can eat or drink. If, this isn't government control I don't know what is!!!!! I want the government out of my life. I have and still do support my self by working and when I had a job that did not provide health care I did not go to the doctor. I still only go once or twice a year.

    AS DEMS' COSTLY PLAN IS EXPOSED, HOUSE REPUBLICANS PREPARE BETTER SOLUTIONS TO INCREASE AMERICANS' ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE

    June 16, 2009 | House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) |

    Yesterday’s Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report on a Democratic health care “reform” bill has sent shockwaves through Washington – and middle-class families, small businesses, and all taxpayers are right to take notice. Here’s what CBO has uncovered:

    The Democratic plan will cost taxpayers at least $1 trillion;

    The legislation will leave at least 36 million Americans uninsured; and

    The proposal will force at least 23 million Americans to give up the health coverage they currently enjoy.

    This is reform?

    House Republicans are working on a better solution to ensure that every American has access to affordable health care. To that end, tomorrow, the House GOP’s Health Care Reform Solutions Group will outline a common-sense plan to reduce costs, expand access, and increase the quality of care in a way that Americans can afford. The GOP plan will:

    Expand access to affordable, quality care regardless of pre-existing conditions;

    Protect Americans from being forced into a government-run plan, making certain that medical decisions are made by patients and their doctors, not Washington bureaucrats; and

    Let Americans who like their health coverage keep it, while giving Americans the freedom to choose the plan that best meets their needs.

    With the Democratic and GOP plans now coming into clearer focus, middle-class families and small businesses across the country are beginning to ask: is a $1 trillion government takeover of health care really worth it if it leaves at least 36 million Americans uninsured and forces at least 23 million Americans off their current plans? Or, is the better solution a proposal that will expand access to affordable care while protecting Americans’ relationships with their doctors? That choice will become increasingly evident in the weeks to come, as Democrats in charge of Washington continue pushing their costly plan onto Americans who just don’t support it.

    The Medicaid and Medicare programs do not work for everyone because everyone is not eligible. Obama wants to take the money from Medicaid and Medicare and the billions spent on indigent health care and put it in a package that works for everyone, whether they can afford insurance or not. That would be the end of Medicaid and Medicare and the beginning of nationalized health care where NO ONE gets left out. Period. Those who want and can afford private health care can still have it -- it's up to them.

    And the numbers used to calculate who had insuerance were gathered in 1997 and included people who chose not to get insurance and people who qualified for public insurance but for some reason did not sign up for it.

    rejan,

    you are mistaken, there are many people who DO die on the streets because they can not afford preventive health care. Primarily in our homeless population... Many of them served our nation as Vietnam veterans and were neglected adequate medical treatment upon their return. Most (who are homeless) are approaching the elderly age living on the streets without medical insurance. I completely agree with the Obama health proposal. The United States has the worst medical structure of ALL first world countries. When Taiwan began structuring their health care system they looked to the US as an example of what NOT to do. It's a shame to see how many ignorant and ethnocentric Americans there are on the health care issue. National health care works, it has worked in Canada and in Europe. If we are too proud or ignorant to acknowledge this... well, that's a different issue.

    So socialization of the massaes is the answer? Rationing ? Why do canadiens come here for treatment ?Why do Brits wait in long lines at the emergency room?Homeless addicted people need a hand up ,not a hand out.

    rejean... no no no. I don't know where you get your information from. Canadians do not come to the states for treatment. This is false. Americans flock Canadian hospitals for treatment, this is not a secret. Americans also travel to Mexico and Canada to illegally import cheaper drugs. Are health care system is broken, there are other first world countries whose health care system works. We are smart enough to emulate them and curtail them to our own needs. The only ones who oppose this are the multi-billion dollar health care industry and republican fat-cats who have personal, political or monetary ties to them. Privatizing health care was one of the worst decisions this country has made.
