Washington's failure to make use of our own natural resources is a travesty. Restricting exploration and drilling of the U.S. Continental Shelf is criminal. This administration actually applauds high oil prices as needed to fight the fantasy of Global Warming, their inaction is having a devastating impact on our future:
- High oil prices work against economic recovery:
- Hurting consumer confidence
- Encouraging speculation pricing.
- Contributing to job losses.
- Sustaining mortgage defaults.
- Needlessly drawing money out of the economy's wealth-creation engine.
And if that isn't enough, it impacts our national security by providing our enemies with an oil speculation windfall.
Because they have forbidden exploration, we don't even know the extent of our reserves. Lift all restrictions and get started on exploration and drilling.

Drill here, drill now...with what?
Only a very small percentage of the currently leased fields are in use; there's no excess capacity of idle drill rigs just sitting around; and new ones don't just appear overnight, they take years (sometimes many) to plan, buy, and build.
There are known sites just waiting to be tapped.
Kj, You have no idea what you are talking about. There are hundreds of rigs that are being stacked all over our country...just get yourself a rig data report and see who is doing what.
If you need drilling rigs new or old I can get you what ever you need and put our men back to work.
We have pushers that are working the floors and dericks because they don't want to be laid off. If these damn tree hugging liberal democrats would let us drill...we would make a well.
If you heat water on your stove, it warms faster with a lid on the pot. When it's reached the desired temperature, it's not sufficient to merely remove the lid, so that the energy escapes faster. You've got to turn off the heat. You must stop putting more energy into it. We can't turn off the Sun. We can't turn off volcanoes or prevent all wildfires. There are other natural phenomena that we can't turn off.
The heat that's produced from stored [mostly] carbon energy sources an added to the atmosphere are the only source over which we have any control. The increased thermal efficiency of the air blanket, caused by the movement of carbon from within the solid Earth to the atmosphere, retards the outflow of heat from the Planet. That's a secondary effect of burning hydrocarbons.
Worse, every atom of carbon releases energy in the form of heat as it's emitted and binds one, two or more atoms of oxygen, which are then no longer available to our lungs. There's also energy input to our system each day from the Sun. Beyond the heat and light we come by naturally, it's the stored energy extracted from carbon sources, plus more from geothermal and nukes, that can be reduced. Those latter three, the stored energy sources, are the cause of the extraordinary warming that we can moderate.
We need less hydrocarbon energy - not more!

You don't think that we have to sustain our way of life until technology can replace much of what we use now? We are still shipping it over here regardless and making the others rich when we could be the ones to benefit from it ourselves.
Haven't you heard? Algore lied, a new ice age is coming!
Great! I loved the other movies...you probably meant our earth is cooling huh...Great I love cooler weather!
Go on a search engine and type in "Southern Colorado" oil and then "BaKa Formation." Read the "USGS" report on the oil that is there and recoverable. We have plenty of oil, and plenty of lying politicians.
The increasing cost of gasoline that you are experiencing is a direct result of the refiners pinching production to increase revenues. There is currently a glut of oil on the market that is being driven up in prices by oil speculation, not by production shortages or slowdowns. The privatization of oil and refinement has placed the US economy in mercy of these resource oligarchs, whose only responsibility is to maximize profits to its shareholders.

“The Energy Non-Crisis” Lindsey Williams talks about his first hand knowledge of Alaskan oil reserves larger than any on earth. And he talks about how the oil companies and U.S. government won't send it through the pipeline for U.S. citizens to use. Link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3340274697167011147
Yeah, I have heard the "it will take 10 years......" argument. It is the lamest one ever used. If it is going to take that long, we had better get started.
As far as "fewer hydrocarbons" are concerned, Global Warming is the saddest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind.
Point one: We have resources beyond oil that are right here, the worlds second largest supply of low sulfer coal is located in the US in Utah. In the mid 90s Bill Clinton locked it up by ececutive order, why? Point two: Before you dissmiss me as an idiot do your own research. From 900 to 1300 AD the earth was several degrees warmer than it is today. During this period food resources were plentiful. Human advancement during this time was unparrelled in history. Then a mini ice age occured and people died by the millions from starvation, due to crop failure and the earth has not returned to the warmer stage to this day.
People are told what to think and they do just that. Think about it, do you turn up the thermostat by three or four degrees and have the corner of the room where the heater is located be the only place to reach a higher temperature, or does the heat distribute throughout the entire rooom? Global warming isn't what you are being led to beleive. The equatorial regions will be about the same, but the increased warmth will extend to the areas beyong the equator, the heat source will even out planet wide, it has in the past, do your research. We live in a world of constant change, don't fear it, be a part of it, and, enjoy it.
