Nationalize Health Care and Establish $200K lifetime limit

Why Is This Idea Important?: Today we have 15M unemployed, 24M undocumented citizens and 6M young people who can afford but chose not to buy health insurance. They are a burden on our economy. My idea will cost 1/10 of current health care spending and will be fair for all people.

We have to Nationalize Health Care as soon as possible till non-progressive elements of our society organize against it. It is easy and will cost half of what it costs today. Each Documented and Undocumented US Citizen will receive credit card-like MediCard with lifetime limit of $200K adjusted to age. This card should be accepted by any hospital and/or doctor. No one should be able to get medical services for cash! It is up to a citizen to decide how and when to use this card. If you eat junk food, drink alcohol, smoke and never went to gym, chances are that you will spend your amount. There is no need to extend a life for HIV-infected, cancer or other terminally ill patients. Euthanasia should be provided free after you spend your limit. Our resources are limited and should be used accordingly.

A comprehensive health plan that anyone can understand. That says it all. This is not a 4500 page document that Congress either cannot understand or whose staff are too busy to read. Right on!!!!! WTG Bobby....!

    Bobbyfish,

The first time you land in any hospital with injuries caused by an uninsured driver, your $25,000 in uninsured driver coverage will be gone in minutes. The $200,000 credit card you propose will last about a week if you don't need surgery, otherwise, all bets are off.

What about basing everything on the amount of money we have paid the government over our lives instead of age? I'm sick of the government figuring out ways of spending MY MONEY!

With ideas like this you should run for congress or president. You'll fit right in with the rest of the liberal mafia. P.S Don't forget to exempt politicians from the limits, just like they exempt themselves from Social Security, whose funds they spent on other pork.

I find it difficult that you really believe in this idea. Would you be OK with the fact that you will not receive medical care if you accidently were infected with HIV?

  18. Don't laugh too hard. That is where we are headed. Do some research on other countries with nationalized medicine. It isn't pretty. Where are the citizens of those countries who come here to get what they can't in their own country? Why are they not voicing their opposition? If we go the way of government run medical care, pardon the oximoron, they will have nowhere to get what they need.

What would you like to bet that the congress and the president will be exempt from national "health" care. Just like Social Security that's good enough for us but not good enough for them. Remember, they spent all the social security payments that were over the expenses on pork for many years. Now they tell us it's broke and we'll have to pay more. DON"T RE-ELECT ANYBODY!

What amazes me more than anything is that Florida voted for this. Isn't Florida populated mostly by older retired folks? Don't they realize what is happening to us? I am nearing retirement age and was recently told at a global warming meetup, "Die off." It wasn't personal, but he did mean it. People are the problem according to this crowd, so if you aren't working your behind off to pay for all these benefits, die off.

Why is it that the Obama Administration is "for" Wellness Programs to extend life, "for" instituting a BMI to increase your costs for healthcare if you are too fat so that you can have incentive to live longer, BUT..... on the other hand, "for" abortions to end early life and "for" programs like the aforementioned to end your life if you become too expensive or old to keep around.

Isn't that a bit of a contradiction??? A mystery wrapped in an enigma??? or, a sign that Big Government out of control and too much a part of your life .....!!!??

If you think that the Canadian Healthcare System or Veterans Administration Healthcare system (run by the Government) is a model for Nationalized Healthcare then you are in for a BIG surprise......

I defy anyone to locate a Majority of U.S. Veterans who were provided the healthcare that they were promised. I'd dare to say that you won't find many and if you do find a few, they are probably liars or do not know to what you are referring.....

The Government has proven that they couldn't make a profit with a hot dog stand...

Countrymen (and women): There was a time before health insurance. Then modern medicine came up with ways to prolong and eventually forestall your death if you had a heart attack or a stroke or got cancer and all that cost big bucks. So then when you had a heart attack, the ambulance came and took you to the hospital (which was clean and germ-free in those days) and the doctors tried to keep you alive. The more they tried the more it cost. Pretty soon people were going bankrupt from dying. So the insurance companies began to offer "major medical" insurance for those big events that could wipe a family out financially. That worked pretty well. Poor folks got the free expensive care and rich folks got the insurance. But that insurance wasn't real expensive because you didn't use it every other week, only for the really big things. I don't know if it was Hilary or the doctor groups that decided we needed insurance for "well child visits" and "annual physicals" but that was when it became more expensive to have insurance than be sick.

These alleged 35 million or 47 million people without health insurance.... where do they find these numbers???? Thats about8-10 percent of the population.

I live in a large southern city and am in traffic, both on the streets and freeways and have yet to see sick and dying lying in the streets or lined up in the hospital parking lots.

If you are sick enough to see a Doctor, and have no insurance, you can go to any County Hospital and you will not be turned away....

The numbers that are thrown out, however accurate, include those are here illegally and taking advantage of the system, those who can afford it and CHOOSE to not to have insurance and a number who cannot afford it. If we were going to subsidize any group, it should be the latter... But then again, the Administration does not consider this aspect of any plan.

Look at the rules and problems our seniors have already with medicare/medicaid, then multiply this same broken government program by millions, and then look at yourself in the mirror, and without laughing your ass off, tell yourself it will work and make a profit. Medicare/medicaid presently faces 40 to 50 billion dollars every year in fraud claims. This requires hundreds, maybe thousands of workers to review all of these cases and they all get paid from our federal taxes. Socialized medicine is a joke, it does not work, it makes everyone miserable, and it will restrict many people from getting the treatment they will need because government will be so loaded down in paperwork it will take weeks or months to get you what you need.

Canadians and Europenas are telling us it sucks and what we have right now is the best in the world.

One big problem with your credit card idea, what about auto accidents where you or the other driver might be underinsured? What about any other accident? Broken bones from playing a sport because you wanted to be healthy on Obamas Health plan? What if you get shot by a stray bullet or you are held up and robbed? Many accidents can cost a person hundreds of thousands, so some may need more than others, and that's just the way it is, and that's why we pay for insurance and let the insurance companys deal with it.

Get a job, work hard, buy your insurance. If you can't afford insurance, get a better job. Any hospital will take care of you in emergencys and that will not change.

Thank you for considering my idea!

Guys, you a so selfish. If you are HIV positive, have a cancer and had been hit in the car accident - move on, let other live. Country cannot stop and nurse the unfortunate ones.

Once in a century America elected the Great Leader that will CHANGE America. Nationalized Health care is the way to make a world a better place. Let's be honest: Nationalized Health Care is a way to ration valuable country resources. Who is the most productive member of our society: white guy approaching 60 or young 20 year old latina? The answer is simple: cut Medicare and provide Free Health Care for Undocumented Citizens. They are the future. In addition, it would be a good idea to include in the Plan Future Undocumented Citizens currently residing outside US in China, Mexico, Iran, Syria and developing muslim countries like Kenya and Indonesia. BTW, we need them in 2010 and 2012 to further progress America. Good luck, guys! Change, we can believe!

boobyfish, is english your first language?

boobyfish, The USA has done more for HIV/AIDS research and care than any other country and NOT just here in the US, the former President George W. Bush gave more aid to Africa for AIDS care than his father or Pres. Clinton.

I marvel at the massive number of people who refuse to listen to those who live with socialized medicine and say how awful it is. Let's not confuse the issue with facts though.

I am afraid you are right boobyfish, America elected a leader that will CHANGE America. I am afraid. Very, very afraid that everything I have worked hard for and earned over my 50 years will be "rationed" out as a valuable resource to someone who has not worked for it. I go to bed every nite amazed at the rapid change my country is going through. I can hardly believe some of the things I hear in the news every nite. But don't blame me, I voted for the ticket with the woman on it.
