rethink all Federa Political Appointments- Reduce Political Appointments -

Why Is This Idea Important?: Merit system is thwarted by this practice, and career employees are forced to answer to politically motivated individuals with agendas not aligned with the agency mission. Why have a merit system for promotion when the majority of the best jobs are reserved for cronies of the current administration? The Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act (ch. 27, 22 Stat. 403) of 1883 United States federal law established the United States Civil Service Commission, which placed most federal government employees on the merit system and marked the end of the so-called spoils system.

Too many of the top positions in the Federal Government have been set aside for political cronies. These people garner points through loyalty to the party or administration and are given positions for which they are not qualified. Their career counterparts who have served their time, know the system, and deserve promotions are stopped out by this practice and do the heavy lifting for these figure head leaders. Review the record and you will see that far too often these people are recycled again and again appearing in various positions. The Merit system principals will continue to be a joke as long as these SES jobs continue to be gifts for political hacks.
