Why cant they invent synthetic gas? They have synthetic oil, plastic, rubber, sugar. So why not gas? After all they know what the chemical makeup is. I think they have it and its just greed that keeps it off the market. Please release the synthetic gasoline so the USA can get off of foreign oil.

hmm ... plastic, oil, rubber, and even the synthetic sugar I'd imagine are all from oil. Unfortunately all the synthetic stuff you're referring to are all continuing our dependence on oil. The only way to go is natural. Air, sunlight, bio fuels etc. You can't just 'make' a synthetic gas - it is a synthetic itself.
Have you seen the price of synthetic oil? It is by far better than conventional oil in every way but cost. Synthetic gas should be about 32.00 a gallon.
hahahahahahaha!
What do you propose we make it from?
Why don't we just tap the oil deposits we have?
Synthetic fuel was made from coal by Germany during WWII and quickly abandoned for being too expensive.
Today we have technology to convert waste to Hydrocarbons much like Fuel Oil or Diesel - but these technologies get no Government support (possibly because they can be profitable without subsidies, possibly because it is unclear who will profit). See May 2004 Discover (Butterball Factory converts hazardous bio-waste to oil).
