Well, csrbev, I think you're understating the problem. The idea was to keep the unemployment rate from reaching 20%, not 8%.

Look, I was opposed to the stimulus and the bailouts. Depressions and recessions are necessary corrections in any capitalist society. It's medicine we all must take. When the price of gas hit $4/gal and the mean price of homes breached $400K and salaries became stagnant, a depression was easily predicted.

Obama's stimulus package only served to push the inevitable off for a few months or years.

Obama said if the stimulus package was not passed "right now," that the unemployment would definitely reach 8 percent in May. Well, the stimulus package was passed, much to my chagrin, and the unemployment is now up at 9.5 percent.

and it's going to get worse. Obama inherited a bankrupt country. Throwing borrowed money at a bankruptcy is sheer shortsightedness, bordering on lunacy.

You people think I am an Obama shill. I'm not. When he's right, he's right. He's right when it comes to birfer issues. When he's wrong, he's wrong. The stimulus package was a short sighted solution which will cause more problems than it cures.

The "bankrupted country" was as a result of a Republican President and a Democrat Congress. Most of the real financial problems happened during Bush's last two years because of the Democrat Congress.

I have always felt that greatest thing about America was our political divisiveness. I love the fact that the country is just about half Republican and half Democrat. That to me creates checks and balances. I always liked counting on that figuring that Democrat politicians would be kept in check by the Republican politicians and the Republican politicians would be kept in check by the Democrat politians.

Well, what was allowed to go on financially in this country for the past few years made me realize that both sides were lining their pockets and both sides were satisfying their own personal agendas and no "checks and balances" were taking place.

But be that as it may, I am so hoping that Obama's Socialist agenda fails. I don't want this financial fiasco be anyone's reasoning to take anymore down the Socialist past.

The best thing the government can do right now is sit back, stay out of, we'll all hurt for a little while, and let it all correct itself. The more the government gets involved the more deep we get in this cesspool.

Ummmm, no. America went from being a net creditor nation to being a debtor nation during the Reagan years. We've been legally bankrupt since then, borrowing money from the Social Security account and replacing it with IOU's, robbing Peter to pay Paul. This country is 12 Trillion dollars in debt BUT WE HAVE 55 TRILLION IN UNFUNDED PROMISORRY NOTES OUT THERE. We're broke.

It's been that way for a lot longer than the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations.

Obama, Reid, & Pelosi took a country that was starting to show signs of economic recovery and drove it deep into debt with their economic Recovery & Reinvestment Act, completion of 2009 budget, and the 2010 budget - all loaded with needless spending, pork, and earmarks. Now the same trio wants to add Obamacare to the heap of spending.

Remember, President Bush left funds from the previous bailout program for Mr. Obama to spend at the start of his term. But that was not enough, so Mr. Obama got his minions in congress to come up with a spending and budget plan that will more than double the national debt in less than four years. The annual budget deficit under Mr. Obama has already quadrupled due to "Porkulous".

Mr. Obama did all this in the first 100-days. This country will not survive the remaining 1320 days of his usurption.

Despite what this administration whans people to believe, (forget the idea of transparency), you can not spend your way out of debt.

The U.S. economy lost 'ONLY' 345,000 jobs in May, the U.S. Labor Department announced Friday, with the nation's unemployment rate rising to 9.4 percent, the highest rate since 1982.

Our small business is going to have to lay off our employees. So you can add TWO more jobs to the ONLY 345,000 jobs lost.

The debt you are racking up is unsustainable, by your own flapping lips, you have indicated we are "already out of money". WELL, DUH, YOU CAN'T SPEND WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE.

Here's a thought. : QUIT SPENDING MONEY YOU DON'T HAVE ON ASININE BAIL-OUTS OF LOSER COMPANIES.

yeh, I said that. Name a single instance since 1986 when the United States has had more receivables and cash on hand than we owed to others.

You can't. Having way more liabilities than assets is the very definition of bankrupt. The only difference between the U.S. Government and Enron is that the U.S. government has the ability to print legal tender. Your comments about Bush handing over a recovering economy are complete booshwa. Even Clinton's surplus in 2000 was a false image of prosperity.
