Common sense ways to jump start the economy

Why Is This Idea Important?: The most important topic of the day the economy doesn't even have its own category.

Apparently they don't want unemployment to go down yet. They want the sheeple to be dependent on the government. Until the idiots in DC get removed, no one will have any confidence in what is going to happen. I am a small business owner and everyone I talk to says the same thing, it is a lack of confidence in our elected officials. Once they know what is going to happen they will start spending again. I know I will not spend any money I do not need to right now.

If Mr. Obama wants to turn the economy around, here are a few pointers.

1. Release the long form birth certificate and college records. This will return some trust to the people.

2. Talk to some real people in the trenches. Don't rely on just your elitist buddies in DC. They only do what is good for themselves and what they need to do to get reelected. Specter is the perfect example of this.

3. Stop the bailouts. Everyone (with a brain) knows you cant spend more than you take in. This would give people confidence that their taxes are not going to go through the roof. I know that this is contrary to what the current politicians want. The more they tax the more control they get.

4. Pick people for your cabinet that are actually trustworthy. I really don't need to mention the tax cheats do I?

5. Don't burden the people more by passing this CAP and Tax scheme. Why would I spend any money when I am expecting to be paying the little disposable income I have in higher energy prices?

6. Stop government control of health care. Just look to any government run program to see the waste and corruption. The postal service, social security, etc. If you truly want to reduce the cost of healthcare, start with the lawyers that file frivolous lawsuits. We already have a shortage of qualified nurses in this country. Do you really think that young people will go in to the healthcare field if there salaries get limited?

7. Drill, drill, drill. This alone would put thousands of people to work immediately.

8. Remove the illegals and close the border. This would free up (I'm sure you know the number) of jobs for AMERICAN citizens.

9. Even though I am against more government control, legalize and tax marijuana. At the least it should be removed as a schedule 1 narcotic. It makes no sense that cigarettes and alcohol are legal when they do more harm to society than marijuana ever could. The tax revenue alone would be astronomical. The jobs that would be created would be significant. The money we would save in enforcement, courts, etc would also be significant. The war on drugs has failed. It is time to admit the fact.

There are so many common sense ways to help turn this mess around. These are just a start.

It is time to get your head out of your ass and the asses of the unions that got you elected and do the right thing.

The stimulus money should have gone to the people. No car companies would have gone out of business. The people KNOW how to spend and stimulate. This idea was offered over and over again in congress and the democrats rejected it everytime.

Had the people gotten the money we would be smooth sailing by now. How stupid our government is, how selfish. They don't care about the people.

Don't you understand? The economy must be made bad or people won't buy the Marxist baloney.

Go read about the ideas of Antonio Gramsci, all we are seeing is right out of his book! The plan is only new to those who learned the revisionist history of the past 30 years. There once was a time when the schools tsught the truth.

  3. There shouldn't have been stimulus money. Congress should reset the currency, make it something they proceed to send everyone thousands of per day.

GEORGE BUSH WAS THE GREATEST REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY

Nobody in the history of this country was more successful at passing what conservatives will tell you are their key issues. He was not a failure by any stretch of the imagination if you are judging by how much of his party's agenda was achieved.

What did he do to deserve this title?

    Biggest tax cuts in history

    Biggest cuts in "social" programs

    Biggest rollbacks of environmental protections

    Most defense spending ever

Biggest rollbacks in business and development regulations

Biggest giveaways of public land for mountaintop mining and timber

    Biggest crackdown on civil liberties

Biggest cuts in higher education budgets

Privatization of Military, law enforcement and prison infrastructure

    Biggest cuts in Veteran's benefits

Two new ultra right Supreme Court picks

    And on and on...

There is nothing this man did that was a failure...if you are judging by whether one advances his party's interests. He was able to accomplish things that conservatives have been whimpering that the dirty "Libtard" congresses of Nixon, Bush I, and Reagan blocked them from doing for 40 years.

Well, the stars lined up for them. They got everything they said would "free capitalism" from the bonds of "big government" to work it's magic.

    What did we get?

Worst job creation record since Hoover

Actually LOST jobs over his entire first term

300,000 jobs for his second term

(Jimmy Carter created 10 million jobs in "worst economy in history”)

Millions more people without health insurance

Millions more collecting unemployment from the government

Millions of people’s retirement saving WIPED OUT

Homes worth half what people paid for them

Major decline of respect for US in the world

Continued terrorist attacks on US soil (Anthrax? Snipers?)

Stagnant wages in the midst of inflation in the prices of fuel, food, education and health care resulting in a NET LOSS in the standard of living of the vast majority in this country

Largest gap between rich and poor in this country since the beginning of the Great Depression

It is not George W. Bush's fault and it is not his failure. The fault for the state of this country rests firmly on the POLICIES not the PERSONALITY of GEORGE W BUSH! It is conservative, trickle down, “let business regulate itself” policies that got us where we are.

If we don't acknowledge that then we will repeat this experiment again in the next election. It is important for people to know what they are going to get when they vote for conservatives.

If you make 250,000 a year or more and you want to shut the door to prosperity behind you so you don't need to share your loot then you should vote republican.

But if you are trying to get there, and want policies that help that happen, like a good education and healthcare alternatives so you don't get trapped in a job you hate…even though you have a great idea for a business...then you need to vote for New Deal Liberalism.

New Deal Liberalism is social spending to help you succeed and government regulation to keep powerful corporate interests from rolling right over you and crushing your hopes to line their own pockets the way they did to millions of others in the last 8 years.

So what's your point. It all comes back to blaming Bush. Do you actually think someone is not pulling Obama's strings? Do you really think he would have got elected on his own merits with NO executive expierience?

  9. Excellent points eric, I'd like to add NO dual citizenships in power, NONE... they do NOT have the U.S, best interests at heart, and you all know this. Common sense. Oh and LOWER the government pays by large margins... see if they give a damn about public service then.

Although I voted for Obama, I agree with ericettinger, for the most part (drill drill drill is the only exception, it'll only temporarily drive down gas prices until the next crisis, and it will fool the auto companies into not researching alternatives).

He needs to stop hiring Tax Cheats and stop the Bailouts, those are the two most important issues, I think.
