Mr. Obama,
This Open Government Dialogue is a great idea. Although I wouldn't call it a "dialogue" because it's very one-sided.
You seem, no you do love to travel to the Middle East and apologize for things America supposedly has done. These are ideals that YOU feel America has done so you apologize for them. These are not things the leader of the free world (free for now) should be doing. Instead, don't you think it would be better to emphasize what America has done FOR the Muslim world? Don't you think it would be better to emphasize what America has done for the world over the course of the last 75 years? Don't you think it would be better to emphasize that America has a willing spirit of cooperation to work with countries who are willing to work with US to continue to help? This shows STRENGTH and VALUES and the other approach shows weakness.
It also undermines everything America has accomplished in the last 75 years and as one American among millions of Americans with deep ties to this country; those family members who helped free France, who fought along beside other countries against Germany to free the world from Adolph Hitler, and who is proud that her husband and other family members fought in the desert in Iraq on the front lines against the Republican Guard of Saddam Hussein and later helped bring down that tyrannical dictator and free Iraq from the clutches of terror he held on that country for many years; it is truly an insult for you to stand in front of the "muslim world" as you call it and make these speeches. It is a huge mistake. And, for you to say this country, the USA is not a Christian nation, where are you? Are you in another world, or are you wishfully thinking that we are not so? Because this country IS a Christian nation. Obama, be a leader, be a president if that's what you want to be; you ran for the office, you've got it now act as if you are one. But quit the weakness, the fluffy speaches are all great and wonderful but no action behind them speaks volumes to the rest of the world and the rest of the world is quickly coming to understand that you are all windowdressing.

French President praised the USA today and Obama seemed shocked.
Speaking for all the dead servicemen and women that are layed to rest on foriegn soil; Yes he can, and must stop apologizing for this great country.
I am concerned that people seem more upset over the President apologizing for America having forgotten her core values rather than America having forgotten her values. Why is it more shocking that he expresses sorrow for America torturing detainees than it is that we ever did it in the first place?
If apologizing for the horrible way we have acted is more important than us suspending our civil liberties and having thousands of people die in a "war of choice", we HAVE lost our way.
If saying that America is a nation of citizens rather than a religious theocracy is an inaccurate statement, why did our founding fathers ensure the separation of church and state?
Speaking as a combat veteran of the U.S. Army, I find it sad that people point out "The U.S. saving Iraq (and the rest of the world) from Saddam Hussein" was justification for the present war. If that were true justification, why did we not invade Iran as well as N. Korea?
The great thing about having a democratic republic is that the majority of Americans gave their opinion on the course for our country last November. Those that would make statements like those found in this thread are, thankfully, in the minority.
Torture IS wrong. Regardless of the situation. Regardless of what has been done to us. Regardless of the "wealth of information" gleaned from it. It goes against everything we are supposed to stand for. We needed to apologize to the world for it. Thank you President Obama for apologizing for our temporary insanity following 9/11.

A hijab-wearing Muslim woman crashed the Remembrance Ceremony of the first successful homeland terrorist attack since 9/11. Pvt. William Long was murdereed and Pvt. Quinton I. Ezeagwula was wounded by Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad this week at an Army recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Secure Arkansas organized a rally in rememberance of the first terrorist attack since 9/11. Pvt. William Long was killed and Pvt. Quinton I. The fanatic drove by and yelled at us, then parked in the parking lot and stood out with a homemade sign yelling anti-American and later anti-Semetic comments.

When a wrong is done, it is very important to point it out as wrong, besides making repairs for that wrong. The countries that have taken terrible abuses from us already know that the US did the wrong, and Obama admiting to it does help in a repair. Obama mentioned only a minimum of the most obvious to the entire world. He didn't yet apologize for the very many of the wrongful intrusions of the US even since his 1961 birth. That would be a very large and embarrassing thing to do entirely. How about the Vietnam war? A lie of President Johnson's government that justified our murdering over a million innocent Vietnamese for our Corporate lusts for great wealth. Every war the US has particapated since Obama joined us on earth have been wrongful wars for the greed of US Corporations to make wrongful gains, with our politicians taking bribes for the necessary legislation. We can't blame the US people that seldom get the truth from our Corporate supplied news that do not tell the people all of the truth that they know. With the internet we can, if we look,find the truth, but our government is attempting even now to put a control on that, and we will be back to totally screened news once again if we let them do it. But, in any event, lets hope that Obama is being honest. So far he has said very many nice appropriate words, but I fail to yet see any thing at all that has in fact to the good yet come true. Why does he continue to cover the crimes of the former Bush and Cheney criminal regime? Why does he want a law that allows him to hide away crimes of war, if he is honest in his cliams of an open governmetn. It doesn't smell good.
We have nothing to apologize for. We were attacked on 9/11/2009. HAS EVRYONE ON THE LEFT FORGOT WHAT HAPPENED TO OVER 3000 FELLOW AMERICANS ON OUR SOIL??????? We did not start this. We reacted in a way that anyone would. We went after the ones who took credit for it, the ones who approved of it and the ones who openly said they were for it and glad it happened, and would like to see more of america suffer. No question, almost 3000 people were killec and most of them were people of the United States, but there are very many indications, as well as proofs, that those blamed for it hijackings could not have been involved in that destruction and evidence is lacking in showing that the aircraft involved were even hijacked at all, as well as the fact that the World Trade Center buildings were build with a very strong steel core that could not be taken down even had several airliners crashed into each of them.
There is evidence now verified by independant by studies by many independant scientists here in the United States and abroad that nano-thermate was the primary method used in bringing the the buildings down and not any aircraft or resulting building fires that are in aggreement that indeed the buildings were taken down by demolition with the use of nano-thermate which was found throughout the WTC Complex area following the demolition. That along with the live videos that do show that the collapses of each of the buildinge could not be anything but demoltion pre-installed by experienced demolition expertice. The Official story is a hoax intentionally prepared to missrepresent the truth of what really happened. There are enless other evidences that confirm that the entire 9-11 commission was nothing more than an underfunded project to misslead the people away from the true facts of what really happened and was intended to avoid the truth rather than find it.
The alleged "terrorist" could not have gained the access required to set the vast amounts of charges throughout the buildings infrastruction. Added to the fact that many of those accused to have been the hijackers turned up alive and will living in various parts of the world. As well there are hundreds of other descrepancies in the official fantasy story they did need foir us to believe. The official story has too many gapes and very too many missing piecces of infoirmtion that lack evidence as well as contradicts clear facts, and is not believeable to believe by any that do a real review of what is supported by fact.

Every time another country establishes a democratic government of the people, the CIA moves in and tortures and kills the pro-democracy element.
The CIA runs the major drug empires: the Golden triangle, Colombian coke; Afghanistan heroin. Did you know that the Taliban closed down the poppy fields? Drugs are forbidden in the Quran, and growers were shot. The US invaded and within three years 90% of the heroin in the world comes from Afghanistan.
I could write a book on the crimes the US has committed against the people of the world; and in fact many have.
Obama was apologising for these crimes. Maybe tongue in cheek, but these were real crimes.

The same ones that "our" representatives pass legilation and promote their conspircies to take even more. You have it right on the CIA as well, they even provide their agents as servants at the annual conspiracy meeting for their sponsor Bilderbugers annual super MOFIA Type meetings. I can't get over the fact that the CIA doesn't have to even account for what it is funded, besides their covertly earned funding, drug cartel and the like. The US has no moral right to have such dark criminal organization. They can murder, steal, kidnap, anything at all, and our taxing government requires us to pay them to keep it up. We kid ourselves when we think we have a democracy. I was a Chemical Engineer in a "former life" (LOL) and have indeed gone over reports of thermite (nano form) being found all over the grounds of the World Trade Center. There is no explanation for this chemical to be there. In fact, this chemical was only developed in 2000. As a Chemical Engineer, I know that this compound would only have been SPRAYED onto surfaces. It would not have been in the form of a bomb or any other form. As well, it explodes at a low temperature. I am only putting this here because pdennany mentioned this. I posted the original thread about Obama not apologizing and I do not think he should do so under any terms. No matter what. We have soldiers in the theater of war, this makes us look weak, can place our soldiers in even more harm and it is not good politics or good policy. With that said, I will return to my comments regarding the thermite.
It is true, when I reviewed the tapes of the collapse of the buildings, there is no way to explain the way they collapsed. They appear as if they were set up to be demolished. As appalled as I was that day and for months afterward and to this day for the loss of life, I have even more fear for what I now know. And this is NOT something I discuss with anyone. I probably know more than the poster even can imagine. I do not discuss this with my family, this is something that could cause one to "disappear" into the night and never return if one could understand my meaning here.
This is all I will write. I am not a person who chases conspiracy theories. But my eyes have been opened by events. I don't believe that President Bush instigated this event we are referring to. There are evil people involved in this that will go to any lengths to achieve their goals. I believe Obama is involved (as a puppet of sorts) and as Americans, sooner or later the blame game must stop and all of us, from all walks of life, all religions, all political persuasions must come together to stop this or to fight to save ourselves. Sound dramatic? Sure, but this is the truth. I have found peace in God. This is the only thing that gets me from day to day. Remember my words, those that read them. Be prepared. Watch and do not trust everything you see and hear and are told by those in a position of authority. Trust your instincts. In the end, it is YOU and what YOU do that will either save you or be the end of you.
