Turn that Sat. weekly presidential fireside chat thing into a weekly WEB-based discussion w/the people

Why Is This Idea Important?: Because we need to know the man is listening and HEARING us AND getting our input WITHOUT you or anybody else censoring it, spinning it, deciding it's too this or that, etc. and we need to hear him respond DIRECTLY. I'm tired of ABCCBSCNN and the rest of them thinking that they are speaking for me or thinking they know what I am concerned about. They don't. Period. And I am ABSOLUTELY convinced that Obama is not hearing a good portion of people re their concerns. The feedback loop is too filtered. And I'm not alone in my feeling here.

Nobody even knows what station to tune in to get that supposed weekly presidential address to the people every Sat. You have to have cable and for something that is supposed to be public, it's not on NPR.

And open the thing up - update that fireside chat idea to the 21st century. Make it interactive. EVERY week for 1/2 hour or so, Obama instead of talking at the people should talk WITH the people via the web - like Gibbs does everyday with the media.

This sounds like a great idea. I would even take it one step further. Perhaps each week (Sun through Thurs) a site could be set up that specifically allows people to ask questions of the president and vote for which questions they would like discussed or answered. The votes could be finalized each week at a certain cut off time, then the top 10 questions could be formalized and posted on Friday. The President could then address those specific questions on Saturday during a live webcast.

Each week the list would be removed and the process would start over again on Sunday with a clean slate, ensuring only those current questions of the week are considered in the voting process for that week and that the questions are as current as possible.

I LOVE that add-on/enhancemen idea of "thefoff's" - terrific. YES YES YES!!!!

And for people, by the way, who don't have an internet connection or whose library is closed (due to those states like California that have governors who think people preferred them to cut libraries and education vs just f'ing taxing the rich more), put the thing on the radio and put it on NPR - RADIO THAT PEOPLE LISTEN TO vs. some arcane AM crap station nobody even knows exists.

And with today's technology, the site could look for key words within questions and automatically nest them together to avoid having to sift through "obama's birth certificate" questions over and over again. ;-)

Yeah, let's use today's technology to protect Obama from ever having to release his birth certificate.

That's WAY better than actually being transparent and showing the birth certificate of the president.

Why you would fear that is quite irrational, you know. Imagine the slap down you could give the birthers if only Obama wasn't screwing you over and paying millions to hide it.

Perhaps it is you that need to be filtered out.

Do you think anybody is actually paying attention to these ideas? Anyway, thefoff's search and aggregating scheme is a great one - yeah, the birth certificate crap is REAlly getting tiresome. Why these people are even posting here I don't get...

Good point/idea -- "Obama instead of talking at the people should talk WITH the people via the web"

However, you would still end-up talking with TOTUS (the man behind the curtain typing in the text to the teleprompters).

  9. It would be nice if Obama could respond to OUR posts here!

Present his response on a brand new page and we thumbs up or down each others responses to his ideas.

This would clean up duplications and refine what WE want to say.

Yeah! That thing about having Obama be able to respond to OUR posts - a REAL "back and forth" - actual COMMUNICATION... what a concept. I love that.

Does anybody here know whether anyone IN the Whitehouse who does anything more than clerical work is paying any attention to these posts and what's even on this site????
