Obama's wisdom

In reference to Sotomayor's 2001 Berkley wise latina racist remark, Obama stated he was sure if given the chance she would like to restate that remark. Well she sure would have seems she said it AGAIN in 2002 at Princeton and YET AGAIN in 2003 at Seton Hall for good measure I suppose.

This is akin to Hitler telling the German people "Give me 4 years, and you won't recognize your cities!".

Admittedly Obama needs to step up his "vetting skills game".

That I take back, it's being too kind. Obama IS A RACIST and that's why he picked her. Facts don't lie.

  1. "Obama is a racist".

Against whom? His white half or his black half? Either way, you are accusing him of self loathing. Maybe you're claiming he holds a grudge against his Hispanic half?

Obama is black by his own words when he wrote Dreams from my Father. He did not write Dreams from my Mother. He looked up to his father and wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. His father had been sent to the U.S. to be groomed for power in Kenya; Obama followed in his footsteps, only not for power in Kenya. He was sent to the U.S. to become powerful in the U.S. and that is why he will not reveal the funding for his expensive education. Do the research and you will find Obama's Kenyan Citizenship is what drives him, not his mother's white portion. On his mother's side, his ancestors had slaves. Do you think that would lead him to honor his white ancestry? Give us a break! We are educated and informed. We know the facts before we speak.

  3. This is the full trnascript of the lecture given by judge Sotomayor: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/15/us/politics/15judge.text.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1

She seems like a pretty wise person to me. It's her entire speech and puts her comment into perspective. I would tend to guess that most of her detractors are ignorant and/or just looking for anything at all to discredit her because she was nominated by Obama.

The claims as to Obama's racism seem pretty strange to me. I don't doubt that some who are making such claims could be racist themselves, but I would guess that it's more likely to stem from an ideology many are holding on to that prevents them from thinking impartially. The unfounded and irrational claims as to his religious beliefs and nationality lend support to this possibility though I would be curious to see a careful, scientific analysis on the topic.

Judge Sotomayor is not qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice. Only 40% of her cases that have gone on to the Supreme Court have NOT been reversed. You would think Mr. Obama having been a Professor of Law, would know a failing grade (59-50 = F) when he it is staring him in the face.

If most of us performed that badly, we would be fired, and deservedly so. Only in our government do they actively promote failures.

  6. Ahhh... You didn't read her full statement then did you, wkturner? If you read it in context, she could mean it and still not be a racist, but I doubt anything could persuade you against your beliefs since you probably were hoping for something to discredit her. It's just like those people on the UFO discussions who think we've been visited by other intelligent lifeforms. Anything can and will be used as evidence, whether it could be construed as evidence or not from any fair, reasonable perspective.

Obama doesn't care about her performance, as long as she is loyal to him and will do his bidding. He wants followers, like Jim Jones and the KoolAid drinkers. Look at all his other appointees, especially Tim 'Turbo Tax' Geitner. He couldn't even figure out how to pay the right amount of his own taxes, but Obama put him in charge of the IRS, because he will 'follow' him. Obama thinks he is God and says, "If you follow me, I will watch over you, and we will rule the world!" and they flocked unto him, the believers, the timid, the uneducated, the weak, the poor, the hungry, the druggies, the down trodden, the lazy, the crooked, the illegals and the Democrats. Only the hard working, the entrepreneurs, the self-sufficient, the over-taxed,

the elderly wise in their years, the free thinkers, the patriots and the Tea Party people could see that 'the emperor wore no clothes' but was clothed in shadows, secrecy and deceit, while wooing all the others with his gleaming smile and smooth tongue, that was forked, in his quest for power. Well, the higher you climb, the farther you will fall. They will all come tumbling down soon. It is no longer political; people from all parties and walks of life are rising up to resist their power grab.

  8. photosrme has a point. It depends, though, on what was overturned (and it depends on whether or not the statistic is actually true. I'd be curious to know your source.) I would want to see the actual cases, find out what her opinion on the cases were and what was actually overturned. Also, did she have an assenting or dissenting opinion in the cases, and what did she write in each case? She does have a pretty impressive background, so I'd want to know more. I'd certainly want to have my performance judged on more than a statistic that hasn't been given meaning from the circumstances surrounding it. She could be "outperforming" (or not) most other judges, but I haven't seen statistics on them, so I don't know.

  9. US Supreme Court justices don't follow; they lead--as Bush discovered with his appointment of Souter.
