election law changes for 2012

Why Is This Idea Important?: It would ensure that any president is constitutionally eligible and prevent the current type of controversy.

We need to change laws so that all candidates must show hospital generated birth certificate before they can get on ballot.

Contact your congress members and insist they sign on as co-sponsors of Rep. Posey's HR1503 to do just what you suggest. It would require this documentation of any candidates in 2010 or 2012 (including Obama.) Further, in the process of investigating the need for this bill, a caucus of congress would have authority under Hawaii Statute 338-18 to obtain the documents readers on this forum are demanding.

Obama's supporters who firmly believe he is eligible should be happy to have this info, confirming their belief.

What happens when someone isn't born in a hospital? Or, even with a doctor in attendance??? Like many births used to be in Hawai'i.

Look up in the Hawaii statutes their Compulsory Registration Law that takes care of births outside of a hospital. That would still produce a birth certificate, not the COLB shown on the internet. And Obama's book said he found his original bc in his grandparents' books, so why not release it instead of the questionable document on the net?

HR 1503 is a very important piece of legislation that will require sufficient documentation so that this will never happen again. It does not affect this presidency. It affects future candidates and it sets strict guidelines for ensuring eligibility. It also places responsibility for vetting a candidate on the shoulders of the principle campaign committee.

Here is the opening text for the bill:

"To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of President to include with the committee’s statement of organization a copy of the candidate’s birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution."

Urge your representative to support this bill.

It is also necessary to prove that both your parents were citizens of the USA when you were born in order to be a natural born citizen.
