Stop discrimination in the Social Security payment system

Why Is This Idea Important?: Removes the discrimination practice that SSA has adopted to solve a problem which does not exist anymore. The Government is essentially borrowing money from SS recipients without paying interest. Only those who get paid on the first of the month are receiving their full benefit when it is due.

Review the procedures used by the Social Security Agency (SSA) who issues SS check based upon date of birth. Years ago before the fast computer age the SSA office issued all checks within the first week of the months after the money was owed to the recipient. Because of the heavy one-time per month work load, they changed the process to issues check every week of the month based on date of birth following the end of the month that the money was owed the recipient. This was to even out the work load. For example, I received my check on the third week of the month after the month for which it is due. This means that the Government is holding back and using my money for three weeks before giving it to me. There is no reason anymore for the Government to hold back these payment since the work load factor was eliminated by faster computers, direct electronic deposits and fully mechanized processed of determining the payments, writing the check and distributing the checks. The Government should pay all Senior their SS checks on the 1st working day of the month following the period in which it is due. The only reason why the procedure is being used is to that the Government can use the people's money interest free. Change the procedure and eliminate the discriminate based upon date of birth.

I can't really vote on this one. I see your point to an extent, but feel that if the procedure is the same, and the checks are coming in at the same time monthly, and on time, then your personal budget should reflect that.

However, I can also see that during the transition to a new procedure, where there may be a delay in receiving your check could be a big problem.

Good but the mass of people that have SSD don't care what day there free money comes. Cuz they don't work for it and have a learning disablitiy.

IMHO I don't think if a couple are married and one dies the other should have the others SS. But then again the GOV has never done anything that worked or was cost affective.

    I like your point! +1

They issue SS checks on birth date because it would be a huge problem to do it on the same date. It would over whelm the whole system.

    For Satevensje

Your comment was relevent when they changed the law about 20 or so years ago. Please read my comments again because you may have missed my comments that the speed of today computers, totally mechanized processing and direct deposits could accomplish the work in one or three days at the most.

If these procedures are in effect, then President Obama will have big problems applying for his Social Security benefits because he can't produce the right documents that PROVE when and where he was born. What a pity. Man will reap what he has sown...
