Tax audit on all government officials

Why Is This Idea Important?: Because there have been FAR too many tax issues arise in just the last six months during confirmation of new government officials in the new administration. This has many in the public feeling like there is a double standard to taxation in this nation: One rule to follow for all, one exception to follow for those elected officials.

The IRS needs to perform a tax audit on all elected officials in this nation; all governors, all senators, all congressmen, all ranking administration officials.

All too often the public bears witness to a publicly-elected official or government-appointed official who is caught owing sums of money for back taxes to the IRS. No better example could sadly be made of this than the recent confirmation processes for a handful of the current administration's candidates (both those who failed/dropped out of the confirmation process and those who currently hold office).

The news of these officials owing large sums of monies for taxes resonates with the public as corruption or worst yet tax evasion and criminal.

All tax records for all elected government officials, either by public vote or government appointment, should be:

- Made public

- Thoroughly audited by the IRS

Perhaps every American should be tax audited. That would the only fair way to ensure that taxes are paid fairly by everyone according to what they owe.

It would be even better for a complete overhaul of our tax system to make it more transparent and easier for every American to pay their fair share.
