This is about the most ignorant logic I've ever heard. I have observed many guns for long periods of time. Not a single gun that I watched ever got up and committed a violent act! It is not until a violent person picks up a weapon (be it a gun or anything else) and commits an act of violence does violence occure. PEOPLE are violent, NOT guns. With your logic, we should outlaw cars, more people are killed by cars than guns!

Guns do not produce violence, people do, if they cannot find guns they will find something else. If you beleive ddialogue and reason work then why have there been 2 world wars and several conflicts. Why are we having an issue with Norht Korea, and I do not believe the US caused this. Do not think to mess with my 2nd ammendment right.

vehicles are responsible for more deaths than guns in the USA will we get rid of them as well? No we won't.

That's the best I can do in quoting the 2nd Amendment I learned years, and years ago. But It seems a reality check would say only the 2nd half of this Amendment remains. It cannot be argued that the the Amendment was put into the Bill of Rights as a safe-guard not against our neighbors, but as a safe-guard against the ferrel government.

More often guns in the hands of responsible citizens stop heinous crimes far exceeding the misuse by lawfully owned guns. Guns actuality prevent crimes.

Further restriction on the lawful possession of guns will not stop criminals from getting them and using them on a helpless public that is unarmed.

States with more liberal gun laws have LESS violent crime than States with stricter gun control measures.

I know it's all true. I have researched independent studies. That is where the information comes from. Facts are hard to ignore. I am not the naive one.

I am not sure who is getting called a moron Virginia, the issue is banning guns, and that I hope I never see. It is our 2nd ammendment right, and one I intend to keep. The percentages of bad people who commit crimes will find the easiest weapon to use. Uspatriot son of sam put it very well and there are alot more facts, look at the weapons of choice in countries that ban guns. Guns are still used, but knifes, bats and all sorts of other weapons are brought into play. And the constitution clearly states that the right to bear arms includes protecting yourself from government control. And this is all about control. And the people who vote, should really investigate before they vote.

Do some research on how that worked for Australia recently. The criminals did not give up their guns, gun violence and crime has risen. Do some more research on how long liberty lasted in each nation after it gave up its guns. No guns = more crime and less liberty. Doctor's kill more people than guns do. Ban Doctor's!!!

Return to a genuinely constitutional militia.

Neither the Republicans NOR the Democrats seem to understand the second amendment - neither side really seems to WANT to understand it.

The purpose of a well-regulated militia was (and IS) to prevent the establishment of a standing army which the founders regarded as "the bane of liberty."

Standing armies may be used to get involved in foreign wars which rapidly deplete the wealth of a nation (to the advantage of the few) and then to oppress the citizens whose taxes have been paid to raise that army by forcing them to pay MORE taxes to pay the army to COLLECT more taxes etc., etc.,...

Democrats promise (though they lie) to give us a smaller army if we'll give up our right to keep and bear arms.

Republicans promise to protect our right to keep and bear arms (though they lie too!) ...but only if we concede to the continuing existence of a large and growing military establishment to begin with.

If you want peace, you must get rid of armies.

But if you want armies, you must assure that the people are left with the tools necessary to defend themselves.

No right to keep and bear arms - no militia.

No militia means there WILL be an army.

Armies mean wars, more taxes and poverty.

This is not a red vs. blue or Republican vs. Democratic issue: this is about TRUTH vs. red lies and blue lies. Wake up people!

As far as the idea of banning guns, let me quote one of MY past president, Chuck Heston: "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!" And unlike Mr. Heston, I do not use muskets.

Anyone out there who thinks guns are needed under the pretense of forming a "militia," in case we ever want to revolt against the most powerful military in the world, is ignorant and naive at best. There is no militia any one can form to over throw the US military. If other first world countries can not over power our military, a few red-neck militia groups shouting 2nd amendment rights wont be able to do it either. Sorry.

Hence, what do we really need guns for? The only reason guns are thus needed is to kill other people. Other Americans; plain and simple. Aside from sport hunting, there is no rational justification for the sale of powerful automatic or semi-automatic fire arms. It's just insane. Make gun owner ship almost illegal and watch how crime rates, murders and domestic terrorist cases shrink.

America has the highest homicide rate of any first world country in the world. We also have the most lax gun laws of any first world country in the world.

I live in a military town; trust me, as much as right-wing extremist would like to site the second amendment as a way to protect ourselves from the tyranny of government, we wouldn't stand two seconds against our military. This isn't the 1800's any more.

Get rid of guns, its only benefiting corporations who sell them by killing American citizens. How can anyone possibly argue against this?

I am not a proponent of that whole "militia" deal. But there are five things you should realize.

1. Guns in the hands of law biding citizens are the best protection against crime that is available. In any state that has more laws against guns there is higher crime rates. The less restrictions and more ownership the lower crime. The same exact thing is true of every country in the world.

2. This right to keep arms is so important that it is the second amendment only to freedom of religion, speech, assembly, press or to redress the government. You don't just "give up a right" like it is some issue of the day.

3. Your statement of revolting against "the most powerful military in the world, is ignorant and naive at best." is about as incredulous as the rest of your idea.

the same thing was said of the British against the colonials when our country was founded and has been said time and time again. From Afghanistan whipping Russia to the United States being held at bay by Viet Nam. I do not propose that it happen nor would I condone it, I am just making a comment on how little you actually know of history and reality. I agree to the point of we do not need a militia, and though I don;t always agree with the government, this is not an answer. But in 50 years it may be the only hope our childrens children have to keep freedom. We don't know. Again you don;t just give it up when it is such a preciouses right and last resort for all generations.

4. Countries that have all but banned their weapons to their civilians such as the UK and Australia have seen crime rates go through the roof with respect to weapons. Criminals still get them and the people in those countries are trying desperately to get them back into the populations hands for self defense. They are protesting, marching in the streets and redressing their governments to allow guns to be put back out in public for the civilians to defend themselves.

5. In the event of any attack on the Country or disaster, it could take DAYS for the government to take control of an area. During which time the population would be utterly helpless to defend themselves without arms. In all preparation manuals put out by the government they say expect to be on your own for at least 72 hours perhaps more.

Have you seen the riots and looting that occurs in places that have lost power, are cut off by floods, hurricanes etc. for extended periods of time?

Why should people be open to being ready made victims unable to defend themselves in these cases?

FYI, there are riots in the streets at times in the UK where the Police can not handle the protesters (Muslims over Palestine recently)People in the UK are scared out of their wits. They need to be able to protect themselves because they just can't run away fast enough.

If you take away the guns, only criminals will have guns. Cars take more lives each ear. Ban driving cars.

I have lived in several countries throughout Europe, all of which banned handguns and your sporting guns had to be kept at the local police station. In all of these countries personal assult was higher than it is in the US, home burglery was outrageous, all because the criminals know that John Q. Public has no way to defend him/herself. Look at the facts right here in America, where ever citizens are aloud to carry concealed weapons, the crime rate has dropped. All because the criminal element knows they could very well face lethal opposition during the commission of a crime! Outlawing guns will not stop criminals from committing crimes! After all, not all crimes are committed with a gun in the first place. Wake up you ignorate, bleeding heart liberals and face the truth.

juancalcala- I firmly believe you are un-informed and not an American citizen, at least not in your mind. No true American will ever willing give up on any right whether it be the first or second. The 2 most important rights in the Bill of Rights. Our constitution was established for a reason and currently the congress and current administration are trying to tear it apart. Many citizens do not own guns, and are fighting to keep the second ammendment. What does that tell you. It is about our fundumental right to bear arms, it is also about our fundemental right to freedom of speech, freedom to assemble and speak out against government. Some states are now blocking this right with permits and the cost. What next. Ask yourself this. Do you like being FREE or are you comfortable with giving that up and having the government make all your decisions for you??
