Presumption of Equal Custody in divorce

Why Is This Idea Important?: Reduces incentive for divorce, takes much of the fight out of divorce, makes for less tension among divorce couples.

Over half the states have passed this now. It needs to be nationwide.

Current divorce law provides monetary incentives for a parent to initiate divorce and to fight for as much custody time as they can.

This pits parents against each other and makes reconciliation almost impossible. It's the worst thing possible for the child.

  1. This should be a state to state law and the federal government certainly has no business in our bedrooms, in our divorces, in the education of our children or the custody issues of our children. A LOCAL JUDGE SHOULD PRESIDE over these things. When a federal law is set that sets these laws and doesn't allow local judges to take into account all interests and all mitigating circumstances, this is wrong.

KEEP THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR LIVES!
