Make available stories with statistics that show government generating cost savings.

Why Is This Idea Important?: It provides data in a more easily available format that refutes the argument that these programs lose money.

I hear politicians on the right say "nothing the government does operates at a profit" which they get away with because people don't see the cost savings.

Check out this article on the cost and the cost savings from mass transit from June 2, 2009;

http://fastlane.dot.gov/

If more stories like this with cost savings statistics were available on the internet it would give us something easily available to refute the argument that the government operates at a loss all the time.

    What a crock. The website just proves you don't have the foggiest idea of what you are talking about.

    The site claims "Cities with well-established rail systems have less traffic congestion," Are they talking about New York City? Los Angeles has lots of trains, planes and busses. Ever try getting around there? And Houston, as an example? What a joke. I live here, and know better. The only improvement in transportation flow here in the past 10 years has been wider freeways and more toll roads.

    I think the point is that the majority of tax payers do not want the Federal Government running the auto industry. If Obama were to put his money where his mouth his he would immediately make the government/taxpayer shares available for purchase to those who really understand the auto business. How about the disenfranchised auto dealers and other bond holders. The truth is, Obama actually wants to be in the auto business and I don't believe he ever intended otherwise, regardless of what he says. Fortunately, time is the great leveler.

    The amounts of money involved indicate its nationwide. The statistics indicate that there must be numerous cases of success in mass transit if as you say there exist a few failures.
