Term Limits and Pay cuts for Congress

Here's a novel idea. Why not reduce the salaries of ALL Senators and Congressmen to $50,000 a year, give them 4 yr term limits and instead of retiring with a hefty government pension, have them pay-in to Social Seurity and medicare like the rest of us. If you did that you would see men and women who actually CARE about this country and it's citizens running for office instead of those who only do it to collect an exorbitant pay check with ridiculously extravagant retirement benefits. Government officials sport around the country in their big expensive gas guzzlers and jets while expecting us to purchase matchbox cars. They sit back in their cushy air conditioned offices and preach to us about keeping our thermostats at 68 degrees. Instead of conducting studies on how global warming is being caused by cow farts and obese people maybe we should do a study on the air temperature over D.C. I would not be surprised to see that global warming is being caused by all the hot air being produced in Washington.

Oh, I have been saying the same thing for some time now! If you drastically reduce the pay, then you should get people who actually want to REPRESENT their citizens, instead of only striving to be career politicians.

And,it doesn't take a degree in economics to figure out that you need to CUT SPENDING to get the DEBT reduced. Not tax the hell out of the very people that PAY YOUR SALARIES!! And borrowing from China isn't the answer you fools! That just creates MORE DEBT!!

Get a clue and realize every dime you decide to spend comes out of OUR paychecks, NOT YOURS!! It's not YOUR money to spend!! When will you arrogant B@stards realize you are paid to represent the citizens of this country, NOT try to further your political careers by greasing the palms of corporate bigwigs.

Term Limits, Term Limits, Term Limits!!! Why the heck does the Supreme Court have NO TERM LIMITS?? C'mon!! this is insane! AND part of the problem!!

  2. I believe all members of government at city and state levels should only get to serve four years in their perspective area of govt. Weather it is the senate or congress. These people make a career of their seats, and it gives them to much time to build that good o'l boy power deep inside the govt. where it all becomes about THEM (Case in point Mr. Spector) who traded sides just to keep a seat? WHAT A COWARD and a fraud.

I believe a President should NEVER be able to serve more than 8 years. THE TERM LIMIT FOR 8 YEARS AS A PRESIDENT SHOULD NEVER CHANGE.

This country desperately needs term limits for all elected offices at the federal level. While we're at it, we should eliminate lifetime benefits for all elected federal office holders after they are voted out or their terms expire. Maybe this way we can really get people who actually want to serve their country rather than find a lifetime vocation. Also, the political parties can get back to raising leaders (something this country has no shortage of), rather than seeking to grab and hold power for as long as possible.

...and Congress DOES have to pay Social Security. It is a fable that they do not. True, at one time they did not. But now the do.
