Why don't we stop frivolous lawsuits? That's the biggest reason we have such high insurance costs all around. The government doesn't want to do this because they're all attorney's themselves. People should not be awarded $2,000,000 for spilling hot coffee in their laps. We don't need socialized medicine. We need our insurance costs to decrease. It is my understanding that in some states, the premium for an OB/GYN is upwards of $100,000 a year. Why? Because of all these attorneys we see manipulating people into big money suits. Control the dishonest attorneys and you control insurance costs.

Lawsuits are only 1% of the cost of health care in this nation.
Our medical care is the best in the free world and it does cost a lot. Why do hospitals charge $10.00 for 1 Tylenol tablet or $5.00 for a simple bandage. Health care costs are high because of the high cost of medical equipment, and insurance premiums of doctors and hospitals.
Some would say the doctors are paid too much, but this is a free market country and they do go to 8 or more years of school for their degrees. Their educational fees are much higher than the average and they carry more student financial debt into the market place than your average degree holder.
We also have too many welfare bums and illegal aliens using our health care system for free. People who truly need welfare are very few, but we have too many lazy people in this country. Too many of these people go to the emergency room for non-emergency care for free. This is where the health care costs are so great.
I'm not too keen on regulation of any industry, but if one is being exploited by the suppliers as health care is, then maybe it would be a good idea.
