How to get along is the toughest part of any job and the only thing that is not taught to children in any systematic manner to ready our children for main stream america when they graduate. Basic manners. The unspoken rules of the office... Our children should be equipt with basic get along ediquete taught as a part of school and in conjunction with parents right from the start and on up through high school. Very important and receives no attention, yet we have real issues with those of us that cannot make the grade in office ediquete, politics, etc.

etiquette.
Teachers are not qualified and as a group of people, are as likely as not to have deplorable manners.
Besides, what you are looking for isn't really manners, its charm, charisma, fitting-in, social comfort, and amiability.
Go to the Library, check out Miss Manners books, they are hysterically funny and will provide a proper foundation for what you seek.
Teach children ethics, not etiquette.
Something to this effect is good. Ethics and etiquette should be part of k-12 ed.
Another well-intentioned idea that does not belong in the scope of the federal government. Teaching ethics and/or etiquette is the responsibility of the parents, not the government. The 10th amendment to the Constituion. Like Prego sauce, “it’s in there”.
The point here is that many children grow up and spend the hardest time figuring out how to get along in the work place, in grown up social, business settings because this is the only subject that is not formally taught. It should be as it is one of the short list of key things for one to succeed. It also gives one the choice to not act in this taught way. But the advantage is once taught, it now is a choice and not just lack of learning.
Yes, social skills are often an indication of amount and qualit of education.
Do we want to open this "can of worms"?
Next, how about an scaled down "nation building" and call it "Community Values 101"?
Should I continue?
