This would keep the Congress from loading a bill up with unrelated stuff then forcing (wink, nod sometimes) the White House from accepting the trash because the other stuff is "so important". We the People get stuck holding the bag constantly because of this little "inside the beltway" game. Enough, already!
If the White House can cross stuff out, then the American people will know who spent how much on what and throw out the jerks and leave the good people in place.

Single subject bill would be more approprate.
Yeah, and who gets to decide that??????
No, we need a line-item veto. Period. No games, no discussion on what is and what is not a single issue bill.
Do you actually trusts these bast**ds? I don't.
The line item veto has other issues associated with it, and it does not appear to be a good long-term idea.
There is another proposal on this site for line item veto on budget items, only if the previous years budget was not balanced. You may wish to investigate that one.
Give the President a Line Item Veto and each member of Congress a Line Item Vote.
I agree with we-spencer: Single-subject bill would be more appropriate.
