Rulemaking »

Make congress and senate an even political party member of numbers

Why Is This Idea Important?: A fair and balanced government would be the best for We the people, so that ALL OF OUR VOICES could be heard and not just the majority. This is the United States of America, not the United States of Democrats or Republicans

It is not fair to the people of the United States to have one house have a majority in democrats or republicans to pass votes on issues that will have an impact on the entire country. Each branch should have the exact same number of members from each party. If one party member wanted to vote on an issue from another party then that would be fine, but at least it would be fair and balanced. As it is now there is nothing fair about this process of having no checks and balances like our founding fathers wanted. I have watched C-SPAN with actual debates and things that sound like it would save the American people a lot of money are just thrown out because the other party has majority and is more into the issue than the one party. Take global warming or universal health care. The majority of the republican party does not consider this a valid issue to tax people on, while the democratic party doesn't care if people are taxed on it, but since they are in majority they always win, even with some democrats voting on the side of the republicans.

Your comment betrays the concept of a representative democracy. The whole point of elections is so that the majority can enact legislation -- not so that the minority can block it.

I've read chloe's other posts. Let me tell you, she doesn't give a damn about representative democracy. She's all about her team being up. Let me tell you, if republicans were in control of both houses again she drop this idea quicker than a bucket full of jellow jackets. She's interested in "Fair and balanced" government like she's interested in "fair and balanced" news. That is, when it's good for HER.

Umm... guys? The republican and democratic parties merged years ago. We haven't had a representative government in a long time. The only people who would consider representing us are those independent parties, and good luck getting anywhere with them. We have no way of reclaiming our country because we no longer have freedom of the press. It is completely controlled by the wrong people.
