This idea is intended to give people more say in how their tax dollars are spent. It will also allow those whose religious convictions make spending their tax dollars on certain programs abhorent to withhold their consent. The concept is fairly simple. There would be a section added to the tax form that lists the various governmental departments (mostly based on cabinet positions). Each taxpayer would determine what percent of their return should go to each department. Conservatives could give 100 percent to the defense department; liberals could give 100 percent to the EPA; level-headed people could spread out the percenages more evenly, giving x percent to the dept of education, x percent to the transportation dept, x percent to the defense dept, etc... This doesn't mean their money would actaully be traced to make sure it went to the desired departments. The percenages would be used to determine the relative size of each department's budget for the following fiscal year. If our leaders thought the projected budget lacked enough money to fund a particular dept (defense for example), then they would have to increase the budget as a whole to get us up to what they deemed necessary. The percentages would stay the same, regardless of whether the budget was raised or lowered, so the American people would get a government weithed in favor of their desires.

Nope. Sorry. It wouldn't change anything. The politicians would need to jump through more hoops, but they'll still get what they want. It'll just make all the funding formulas more convoluted and harder to talk about. In other words, less transparency.
Also, if it did work, it would a very bad thing. The people who pay the most taxes would dictate all government programs, and the poor would be more neglected than they already are.
I agree. I am sick to my stomache that my tax money is going to illegal and corrupt organization or towards ideas I completely disagree with, i.e. global warming, cap and trade, universal healthcare. This should be criminal of the government giving MY money to something I don't want to support.
Interesting point about the people who mapy the most taxes being able to dictate all government programs. It shows I wasn't clear about the suggestion. The idea wasn't to slot the amount of dollars a person paid in taxes, or the percent they paid compared to others. It's the percentages that would be divied up, not the dollars. For example, if I paid 2 dollars in taxes and you paid 2 million and I said 100 percent should go to the dept of education and you said 100 percent should go to the defense dept then the budget would divide our taxes evenly between the two depts (transporation getting 1,000,001 and defense getting 1,000,001). In effect, we'd get an equal say in the final budget regardless of how much money we were actually contributing.
Still, no good.
We have too many problems that nobody wants to know about that are already underfunded. Child protection agencies, institutions, invisible homeless. The abuses are horrific, and not suitable for dinner-table conversation. Shall we let them eat cake?
And then there's public services that are just not exciting. What percentage would you allocate to the department of motor vehicles?
Since my wife works in a Title 1 school in an urban environment and has worked with children with various disabilities for the last 30 years (and has published a couple of books on the subject of how to do it correctly) I'd probably give a large percentage to the dept of education. If the DMV fell under the dept of Transportation it would get a good chunk too. My percentages would probably look something like this - defence (35%), education (30%), healthcare (15% - including NIH, FDA and the CDC), NASA and related sciences (10%), other depts (10%). This is just a rough draft. If I took a closer look at the cabinet positions there would probably be some minor changes (the State Dept, Justice, Congress etc.. should probably get something).
In united States v Cryer the 12-0 decision was that the federal government has no Constitutional right to tax the money you earn through work.
The IRS could not or did not show by what authority they were taxing Cryer and demanded he pay BEFORE they explained.
It is time to get back to the ideas that made this country great and dump the illegal income tax in the harbor.
the people in general (99% of us) are not legal tax payers. The IRS and the STATE Tax commissions are illegally taxing people they have no legal (according to the laws of the land) right to tax.
The Consititution is made for governments not the people, (YOU an I). It can not alter, infringe or change in any way our rights.
The Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence is our protection as the people for our God given rights to live as we desire, as long as we do not damage property or harm others....
Thus, the so called tax laws... INTERNAL revenue Service.... Internal meeing inside government, are made as part of the constitution that controls GOVERNMENTS and does not control people.... Thus the 3 branches of governments are to be taxed on their incomes. NOT THE PEOPLE.
Executive branch, used to be the president but now is the CEO of the US inc.
The Judicial branch use to be justice for all, but now is the security for the US inc.
The Legislative branch, used to work for the people, but now is the Board of Dirictors of the US inc.
The US inc, is controlled by the world bankers, who just bailed out their companies.... and we as the people have been duped by brainwashing propaganda and conrolled media, that we are to pay income taxes when we are not legally forced to pay them.
therefore... YOUR income tax money does not go to pay for services in the governments, (corporate income taxes pays for those services)...YOU pay the interest to the federal reserve bank for profit, who pays the foreign bankers to rule the world....
Now that we know the truth.... We must take back our nation.
