It is time to go Metric!
Let's face it, except for the U.S. and one other odd country I can't remember, the rest of the world is metric. Let's set a goal and convert by 2020. Require dual labels everywhere with Metric in the lead. Then by 2020, go solely metric.

Why Is This Idea Important?

It is a competitive disadvantage. And didn't we crash a multi-million dollar spacecraft into Mars because one NASA was using english for part of the spacecraft orbital system when it should have been metric?

Lets do it by 2010, we waste an enormous amount of time because we really use both system and are proficient in neither. Our money is metric, who now would think having 12 or 16 cents to the Dollar would be a good idea.

Our government just needs to put its foot down and start the conversion process. Ignore the naysayers who'll show up screaming that it's too costly (bull--the benefits will quickly outweigh any costs; govt can help out the industries that would be most affected), unpatriotic (bull again--COLONIAL ENGLISH measures are what's unpatriotic), or unnecessary (globalizing economy says otherwise). This is definitely a large-scale project which can generate a great deal of jobs. Besides, this is America we're talking about. No one does large-scale projects better than us. Let's wake up and finally become a part of the the world. Let's do it!
