Making Government Operations More Open »

Clear, Effective, Swift Legislation

Why Is This Idea Important?: Several reasons: 1. It would remove a LOT of the completely unproductive and expensive bickering, arguing, and stagnation by our government. In other words, it would un-clog the legislative process. 2. If a bill only contains one issue/cause, then the reasons why senators/representatives vote "yea" or "nea" is VERY clear. Voting records would actually become good indicators of a politician's positions. 3. One issue could be covered comprehensively at one time. Progress could be made as change could actually come and we could begin to move forward.

ONE issue per bill

NO Earmarks.

NO tagging a $500,XXX funding clause for penguin rehabilitation on the end of a bill about health care reform.

Man, good idea, but it's hard enough to get a politician to sit in his or her seat and vote for ANYTHING, much less by increasing their workload a hundredfold. It seems like there would be a lot of little votes vs. few big ones, but with the obvious pork cut out, people would be reluctant to push things that clearly have no benefit to the country, so the ratio might even out.

I wish the one "no" vote to-date would make an explanation as to why this request is not desirable to this person? I respect a good debate. I absolutely support this initiative!
