Will Work for Whiskey (an objective test)

Why Is This Idea Important?: It will accomplish two goals - help clean up the environment and provide a source of income for the homeless.

A lot of roads in our state (Florida, US) have signs under them saying they're maintained by "ABC Company" to keep the state clean. It's a win-win situation, the companies get free-advertising and the public gets clean roadways.

This idea is a variation on that theme. Local panhandlers, and there are quite a few of them around here, could put in a claim for a section of road the same way that companies do. Once a claim was granted it would be up to, let's say Bob, to keep his paticular road and its shoulders clean. If he asks you for some spare change when you're stopped at a light you could take a quick look around and see if he deserves a donation. Along with making your city a cleaner place to live this could decrease both the cost of keeping the roads clean for municipalities and the number of panhandlers drivers have to deal with.

No need to have the government involved in this: Let the panhandlers start it on their own.

LOL... interesting idea! Govt will never get involved with this... and panhandlers are notorious non-self-starters. BUT, maybe I'll just make up some signs myself! And provide them free of charge to my local panhandlers, as a public service & entrepreneurial incentive. Maybe even provide a bag for them to accept "car trash" that might have otherwise ended up on the roadway? Service to the drivers, cleaner medians, probably more $ to the panhandler, maybe even give the poor guy/gal some small sense of worth & pride by doing something a step up from blatant begging? It could be a good thing!

And if not, oh well, it's just a few sheets of printer paper and some cardboard I was going to recycle anyway. I'll start today!
