Most financing for federal political campaigns comes from the top 2% of individuals and corporations and elected officials nearly always reflect those who have given them big money. Public financing would take that element out of the public process and make officials more accountable to the public at large. Maine and Arizona already have public financing and it has worked very well.
All corporate lobbying should be prohibited on a similar principle of financing by the wealthiest coroporations and industries. Politcal votes then represent those corporate interests rather than the broader public.

I think that fund raising for state and local offices should be limited to people, businesses who actually live and generate income in that district. No money may be solicited of accepted from ourside the area of constiuency.
I also think that the profiteering by media should STOP. The public airwaves must be really public and that includes access, for free, by legitimate candidates for office. Most money in campaigns is raised to pay for media advertisements.
You can't tie the hands of citizens to support whom they choose, that's ridiculous!
You are still taking the citizen's money, just distributing it evenly, so the citizen has to say, once again, that their own money does not represent them.
Why shouldn't I be able to support whomever I choose? You want to take that freedom of choice away. I say no!
That Robin-Hood-mentality is what is bankrupting the country now.
All special interest must be prohibited - corporate - union and other such groups need to be prevented from using their money to get their favorites elected
