"Convene a constitutional convention. Remake our federal gov't institutions from scratch to deal with the realities of a post-peak oil, post-oil powered society.

Why? We no longer have "infinite" amounts of natural resources we had when this country was founded. We now face shortages of almost every resource: fresh water, energy/fuel, and raw materials.

Our government at all levels are dinosaurs, like General Motors and the Wall Street banks. These must all get out of the way so we can reimagine the structures of government.

We are too populous. We consume everything at rates which are too high to sustain.

In light of the present and coming crises, there is no other viable option. The federal government must be drastically remade to deal with a present and future situation of no more abundance. The future is local, and the future world will be geographically large and distant."

With our current leadership, you seriously want them tinkering with bedrock?

No stinking way.

The U.S. Constitution is far too precious, works far too well when it isn't ignored, and is to a great degree - miraculous!

The US Constitution was written on hemp paper. It will be rewritten from scratch eventually. People now are not dumber than in the 1770s. We can do it over just fine or at least update some of the English. The older language has had its meaning lost or misrepresented.

Our government at all levels is a dinosaur now. Yet you want to keep it? A constitution is a living document. It needs to breathe. Thanks for your comment.

There is no peak oil. Oil is not a finite resource. Crude oil can be made from plant waste and refined into fuel.

Stop pretending oil is going away.

There are trillions of barrels of oil available in the Western Colorado region and it too can be easily refined into fuels and lubricating oils.

The only thing standing in the way is the federal government and they have no Constitutional basis for standing in the way.

Please cite who is saying there's "trillions of boe" in CO. Nobody is saying that.

Maybe you are thinking of "shale oil" which isn't liquid oil. The drillers must use millions of gallons of natural gas and or water to get out any "shale" oil.

Shale, like hydrogen and tar sands is destroying your own earth which sustains you, for not very much "oil."

If we are so desperate to be drilling for dry bitumen or sands, then definitively we have run out of easy cheap oil. Thus, peak oil!
