The use of email should be the number one source of communication between people and government. People should be able to vote on bills and propositions through email. Email should be permanent and can be traced for safety reasons.

The problem is that email, by definition of its protocols, is neither secure nor reliable.
While many of us spend a great deal of time in front of a computer, we can't forget that the government is for ALL people, and many people can't afford food to eat, let alone a computer. The government needs to utilize a number of methods of communication to include everyone.
Another problem with this is that one person can have many email addresses, and therefore, many votes.
^ That should have said "let alone purchase a computer"... I didn't mean that people couldn't eat computers!
