Turn off some lights at night in federal bldgs

Why Is This Idea Important?: If we turned off at least some of the lights in all Fed. bldgs all over the country each night, we'd cut down on greenhouse gasses & also save some tax money.

I work at the Federal Center in Lakewood, CO & no matter how early I get here in the morning, even if I'm the 1st one here, all the lights in the building are on. This appears to be the case in most if not all the buildings on the Fed. Ctr. This is a waste of electricity & tax dollars.

Josh, thank you, that's an excellent idea. If gov't bldgs across the country switched to motion sensors at night instead of keeping all their lights on, it would at least cut down a little on pollution & lower gov't utility bills, which in turn would save taxpayers a little money.

  3. Yes, I agree with Josh. But this should also be done with AC and government buildings, where the buildings are too cold, even in the middle of summer. (Although, to be fair they probably don't do this nearly as much as movie theaters and other private businesses.)

This should be a no-brainer for any office building, public or private. It's something we were all taught growing up: turn off the light when you leave the room; don't overheat or overcool. I'm surprised there have been so few votes on this.
